Come to meet us in Munich Germany and see our presentation a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) that evaluate the environmental impacts of producing Li2CO3 and LiOH.H2O of the various production routes for lithium carbonate (Li2CO3) and lithium hydroxide monohydrate (LiOH. H2O). Global Warming Potential (GWP) was found to be lowest for projects using Chilean brines, followed by Argentinian brines. Spodumene production in Australia-China showed higher impacts than in Argentina and Chile. The assessment of LiOH.H2O production via four different technologies indicated that refineries using lithium chloride (LiCl) as input had a lower GWP compared to those using Li2CO3. Among the technologies evaluated, the Ark Green+ refinery demonstrated the lowest GWP and overall environmental impacts. Following this, the LiCl Electrolysis refinery had the second lowest GWP, while ArkBlue had the third lowest. The Liming refinery exhibited the highest environmental impacts, including GWP

I am happy to announce the publication of our paper on the evaluation of the natural hydrogen system in the São Francisco Basin, Brazil. In this study we used the available subsurface data, including seismic, magnetic, and well data, to evaluate hydrogen occurrences in the basin. My sincere thanks to all co-authors - Moretti Isabelle, alain prinzhofer, João Françolin and Professor Francisco Ferreira - for their collaboration and insightful discussions. https://lnkd.in/dt9gepdg

In continuation of our ongoing work on the mechanisms of silica scaling at the Olkaria geothermal field, we conducted batch and immersion experiments to evaluate the action of aluminum hydroxide and polysilicic acid on the colloid formation process. We shared our thoughts at the 49th edition of the Stanford Geothermal Workshop, 2024.

Interested in H2 storage research? Researchers from the BEG just presented groundbreaking work on the subject, e.g., subsurface hydrogen storage exploration methods, exploration of human-made cavern placement in salt domes, and assessment of subsurface hydrogen storage in salt formations. Yesterday we announced the highest grades to date, including ultra-high grade spodumene of up to 6.8% Li2O, at our Isabella Lithium Project in Brazil’s Lithium Valley. Perpetual’s in-country team is currently on-site conducting follow-up sampling and reconnaissance work, continuing to unlock the broad regional spodumene potential and test new-high priority targets. The team continues to uncover more artisanal workings within 400m of know spodumene bearing pegmatites, indicating potential for a new previously unknown trend. Three distinct mineralised corridors have been identified along separate pegmatite trends at Isabella, with multiple trends extending over 1 km. Regional interpretation indicates potential extensions of up to 3 km when extrapolated at both ends.
