‼ New Project ‼ AquaBioTech Group is glad to be part of the DecarbonyT project (EU Funded) which started this January 2024. The initial phase of the DecarbonyT project aimed at determining a future direction towards high potential fishing fleet improvement. It's a catch 🎣 - first round of test fishing completed! In Sweden in Latvia 🇸🇪 🇱🇻 , fishers and our project partners from SLU - Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and #BIOR tested different types of traps and nets to see which catches the most #RoundGoby but also minimises bycatch. 🐟 In Sweden, it was a first time for fishers to actively try catch as much Round Goby as possible - in the past the fish as been seen as an annoying bycatch if anything. In Latvia, commercial fishing of Round Goby has already been going on for a couple of years. Not surprisingly, most Round Goby was caught in Latvian waters, but also the biggest fish in the Baltic Sea pond - the winner measuring at an impressive 25 cm. Next season will start in April 2025 with all four pilots aiming to do some serious fishing around the #BalticSea.
