"It's Hard to Get Hired as a Generalist" Is what people in my comments seem to believe... I think it depends on where you're looking. Small companies that need scrappy marketers who can do a bit of everything. Bigger companies need specialists (and even a few generalists). If you're a generalist and having a hard time getting hired, it's because you're either a) looking at the wrong roles b) not selling yourself well You need to find roles that don't require specific knowledge of a specific thing. Companies will look for Marketing Managers but require them to have deep expertise in paid ads. These aren't the right roles for you. Your selling point as a generalist is that you can do anything and understand all the potential levers to pull. You can create more well-rounded strategies and move the needle on anything without a steep learning curve. The world needs generalists. We just need to know where to look and how to sell ourselves 🤝 What's your experience? Is it hard to find a job as a generalist? Do you hire generalists in your company?
