If you haven't noticed, I have an Arabic last name. Many people ask if I am Muslim because of my name. I don't practice Islam, but I have friends and relatives who are Muslim. To support my friends, I participated Ramadan in the summer of 2015 when I lived in Qatar. After my experience, I have the utmost respect for Muslims during the Holy month of Ramadan. Therefore, I want to share a few tips with leaders to support Muslim employees during the Holy Month of Ramadan.  ✅ Extend grace in meetings. Ramadan requires fasting from sun up to sundown. You may notice that some employees will be fatigued and not as agile because you are not allowed to consume any food, liquid, or gum during this period. ✅  If a Muslim employee is not fasting, don't ask why. They may have a medical condition that prevents them from fasting.  ✅ Try to avoid statements like " OMG, that seems so hard" How can you do that? Fasting is not easy, but it is one of the 5 pillars of Islam and must be followed if physically able.  ✅ Be flexible with time off, especially immediately after Ramadan since this is when the Eid celebration begins.
