Momentum is a curriculum-based mentorship program helping our neighbors rise above life's challenges by empowering physical, spiritual, emotional, and economic stability. How does the Momentum mentoring program work? A community volunteer becomes a Mentor to each of our Mentees who are seeking a better life. This is important because many of these Mentors have walked this path and can help advise and encourage their Mentee through these troubled waters. Even the Mentors who have not experienced poverty can help their Mentee learn skills to improve their lives, such as budgeting and creating positive habits. In week 5 of our peer mentoring training programme The Burgess Hill Academy we went back in time. Our Year 9 students were encouraged to think back to their first day at the Acadeny - having been affected by the restrictions due to Covid. This exercise always brings up some powerful emotions - especially when the students remember their younger selves.
