At Anglo-Eastern, we have long been mindful of protecting and preserving marine life and the eco-systems associated with our industry. We are delighted to announce that we have recently joined the League of Whale Guardians™ who have developed a proven methodology that translates into minimal impact of vessels on whales via established Whale Guardians routes. Whale Guardians is the international programme for the avoidance of ship strikes on whales, focusing on establishing approved traffic separation schemes and speed reductions to preserve whale populations. Preventing unintentional vessel strikes is critical for the survival of some endangered whale populations, especially the world’s largest animal, the blue whale. On this #EarthDay let’s protect these extraordinary animals, indicators of healthy ecosystems. 🐆 As we study and implement solutions to protect Persian leopards we also observe the whole ecosystem and how everything is connected. We map 💧 points (all originating from precipitation and snow melting) and observe how their levels and possible disappearance because of #climatechange impacts not only leopards and prey but also local communities and their livelihoods. And so as we strive to protect leopards, we analyze these connections and seek to identify solutions to protect the ecosystem as a whole and the communities that depend upon it. #EarthDay #Turkmenistan #TeamBarsTurkmenistan #MoEPT Selbi Jumayeva

Watch this preview and you'll be wondering why wildlife ecopassages are not yet a standard feature in highway building. The focus here is on overhead passes that mitigate traffic impact on mule deer migrations in Nevada. But they're needed everywhere we use roads. Shining a light on our Reef shell-ebrities this #WorldTurtleDay. Six of the world’s seven marine turtle species are found on the #GreatBarrierReef Unfortunately, three of these species are endangered and three are critically endangered. Two key threats facing our Reef’s turtles are feral animals and marine debris. Australia has stepped up our efforts to better manage these threats, including: • protecting turtle eggs and turtle hatchlings from feral animals through the Nest to Ocean Turtle Protection Program • supporting the ReefClean Program to stop marine debris, including plastics, from entering the Reef. The Nest to Ocean Turtle Protection Program is a joint initiative between the Australian Government and Queensland Government. ReefClean is run by Tangaroa Blue Foundation Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gN_euUbe

#Seamounts support the health of the ocean – they are our #OceanLifelines. But these underwater mountains are under threat from bottom trawling. Seamounts are not only rich feeding grounds but also vital spawning areas for numerous fish species. Tuna, sharks, marine mammals, and seabirds all flock to seamounts. Will you stand up for seamounts protection? #ProtectSeamounts ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eNJmZNh8

The fires in California have left a trail of devastation, but they’ve also shown the remarkable resilience and generosity of the horse community. In times of crisis, horse owners and equestrians don’t hesitate — they act, stepping up to protect each other and their animals. Emergencies like these can be overwhelming, especially when your horse’s safety is on the line. That’s why we developed HorseAlert — a lifeline designed to be used in pre-evacuation to simplify chaos and connect those in need with help when every second counts. HorseAlert works like Uber for horse evacuations. In just a few steps, horse owners can submit a request, and nearby trailer drivers are instantly notified. Once a driver accepts, they’ll head your way to help transport your horse to safety. It’s fast, simple, and could make all the difference in an emergency. Social media platforms like Facebook are often the go-to during crises, but with feeds cluttered by scattered calls for help, it’s easy to lose precious time. As one user put it, “We spent 45 minutes scrolling Facebook trying to find someone to help. Within five minutes of signing up for the app, we had found a person.” Disasters are unpredictable, but preparation doesn’t have to wait. Sign up for HorseAlert today at horsealert.org and ensure that, no matter what comes, you’ll have a plan in place. Together, we can protect our horses and each other. Right now, HorseAlert is available only in Colorado, but we are working hard to expand it nationwide. Fires and other natural disasters don’t stop at state lines, and equestrians across the country face the same challenges when it comes to evacuating horses safely and efficiently. To support our mission or learn more, email us at info@horsealert.org. #HorseAlert #HorseEvacuations #Wildfires #WildfireRescue #AnimalRescue #wildfire

🌋 #Evacuation and #Disaster #Displacement - Volcano Baby. How does it feel to live in a #shelter for an extended period after a disaster? (1/3) Montserrat’s Soufrière Hills volcano became active in 1995, displacing thousands of people. In 1997, two years later, 19 people even lost their lives. During evacuations, most people find refuge in shelters, often leaving the most vulnerable for extended periods. In IOM's three-part series "Volcano Baby", we witness the repercussions of a volcanic eruption on a young girl’s life. This first part of the Volcano Baby series examines the difficulties that #girls and #women can encounter in this particular situation. They must often cope with the usual daily challenges, worsened by factors such as #genderinequalities, gender-based violence #GBV, food insecurity, poor health system, and more. These scenarios show that it is important to strengthen protective systems that leave no one behind. Based on a true story from an extract of "Volcano Baby" in "God Will Find a Way" written by Yvonne Weekes. Stay tuned! The second part will be released this week.
