First stakeholders meeting of PoliRuralPlus project. We held the first stakeholder meeting for the PoliRuralPlus project on June 18th, 2024, at the MID office in Castleblayney. Following a brief introduction to the project and its research theme – "Unlocking the Potential of the Green Economy: Exploring Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Environmental Products and Services in County Monaghan" – we had a productive discussion on several key areas: • The development of the green economy in County Monaghan and potential untapped opportunities. • Brainstorming rural-urban business opportunities. • Identifying high-potential job sectors within the green economy and climate action. Fifteen experts from diverse sectors shared valuable insights, thoughts, and guidance on the green economy in County Monaghan. For further research, Irish Pilot has decided to consider incorporating topics such as the circular economy, carbon reduction, and biomass, particularly in the context of rural-urban connections. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101136910 #PoliRuralPlus #GreenEconomy #Monaghan

I’m thrilled to share that our research paper has been officially published in the Sustainability Journal (SSCI, SCIE, Scopus-indexed), based in Basel, Switzerland. You can read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dqGKp_6f. This study examines how natural resources, renewable energy, technological innovation, and globalization influence environmental quality in the Organization of Turkic States (OTS)—Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan—over the period 1996 to 2020. Our findings show that renewable energy enhances environmental quality, while natural resources, technological innovation, and globalization can contribute to degradation. To mitigate these impacts, we provide policy recommendations aimed at helping OTS member countries advance toward Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and long-term sustainability. #research #sustainability #renewableenergy #environment #OTScountries #SDGs #environmentalpolicy #academicpublishing

(ESIA) – BALANCING ENVIRONMENTAL & SOCIAL ASPECTS IN RENEWABLE ENERGY PROJECTS In renewable energy development, an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) is indispensable, especially in Africa, where social factors are deeply interconnected with environmental health. What is ESIA? An Environmental Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) assesses the potential environmental and social impacts of a project, ensuring that both ecosystems and local communities are protected and supported. Why ESIA is Essential: • Promotes inclusive development by addressing community needs and concerns. • Safeguards biodiversity while ensuring ethical land and resource use. • Attracts responsible investors who prioritize sustainability and community welfare. Incorporating ESIA in renewable energy projects ensures Africa’s energy transition benefits people, planet, and profits. Together, we can foster a cleaner, fairer future. #ESIA #SustainableEnergy #AfricaRenewable
