As the Global Peace Ambassador for Nigeria, I am deeply committed to the values of peace, justice, and strong institutions, as outlined in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16 (SDG 16). This year’s International Day of Peace, with the theme "Cultivate A Culture of Peace," serves as a reminder that peace is not just a destination, but a collective journey we must embark on every day. In this video, I lend my voice to highlight the urgent need for us all to foster a culture of peace in our communities, workplaces, and nations. Peace is more than the absence of conflict; it is about building bridges, encouraging dialogue, and creating systems that support justice and inclusion. As we work toward SDG 16, it’s important to recognize the role each of us plays in creating an environment where peace can thrive. I hope this video inspires you as much as it inspired me to continue advocating for peace. #theadeyemishukroh #GlobalPeaceChain #GlobalPeaceAmbassador #PeaceByDialogue #JourneyTowardsPeace #YesWeCan

In that declaration, the United Nations’ most inclusive body recognized that peace “not only is the absence of conflict, but also requires a positive, dynamic participatory process where dialogue is encouraged and conflicts are solved in a spirit of mutual understanding and cooperation.” This declaration was part of the "Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace" adopted in 1999. Fostering a culture of peace involves promoting non-violence through education, dialogue, and cooperation, as well as adhering to values like respect for human rights, freedom, justice, democracy, tolerance, solidarity, and cultural diversity . This vision of peace is not just the absence of war, but a positive and active process that requires collective effort and commitment. We should all work towards promoting a culture of peace with various initiatives and resolutions aimed at promoting tolerance, understanding, and cooperation among nations and peoples. The idea of development and growth cannot be brought to fruition without peace as it is crucial to address the root causes of conflict. Key Principles of a Culture of Peace: - Respect for Life: Promoting non-violence and respect for human rights - Dialogue and Cooperation: Encouraging dialogue and cooperation to resolve conflicts - Freedom and Justice: Upholding freedom, justice, and democracy - Tolerance and Solidarity: Fostering tolerance, solidarity, and cultural diversity By embracing these principles, we can collectively cultivate the culture of peace. #United Nations #culture of peace 2024 #Peace for Nigeria
