Understanding Different Numbers in Product Data Management through Windchill: WT Number, Drawing Number, Part Number, and ERP Part Number. In Windchill, different numbering systems serve distinct roles in managing product data: WT Number: Also known as the "Windchill Technical Number," it uniquely identifies items within the Windchill system, facilitating internal tracking and management. Drawing Number: This number specifically identifies drawings, aiding in locating graphical representations of parts or assemblies within Windchill. Part Number: Uniquely identifies specific parts within products or assemblies, used throughout the product lifecycle from design to manufacturing. ERP Part Number: Used within Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for operational and financial purposes, it may or may not align with the part numbers in Windchill. Understanding these numbering systems is crucial for efficient product data management, ensuring accuracy and consistency across engineering and operational functions. #ProductDataManagement #Windchill #Engineering #Manufacturing #ERP #LinkedInLearning

Recent shifts in the PLM market are leaving customers confused >> Oracle announced the end of life of their on-premise PLM offering, and those customers are looking to the cloud for the next solution. 🤔 BUT – Oracle’s hashtag #CloudPLM solution lacks some of the features available on-premise, so will those customers be happy with the switch? PTC acquired ServiceMax and is pushing the benefits of PLM + Field Service with Windchill + ServiceMax. 🤔 BUT – will customers looking for the benefits of a unified platform (similar UI, streamlined tech stack, no integration required, shared admin, etc.) be happy with a two-platform solution? Meanwhile, any Salesforce customer who chooses to replace Oracle with Propel can easily connect customer and product data (and related workflows) on the Salesforce platform. ✅ This connectivity will provide breadth, depth, and quality of data for AI, not to mention the benefits of having a single platform to manage customer and product data.
