At Degrees of Change, 80% of our staff are women, 50% are women of color, and most hold leadership roles. International Women's Day grew out the 20th century labor movement that demanded gender equity in the workplace. Over a hundred years later, women's workforce participation has increased dramatically. But inequities remain. Women of color continue to face significant bias and discrimination at work. The gender pay gap has not budged in two decades. And women still lag behind men in high-paying occupations. We believe women's voices should be uplifted and at every table. This International Women's Day, we celebrate gains that have been made, acknowledge that disparities still exist, and commit ourselves to keep supporting the movement for gender equity and inclusion. #degreesofchange #internationalwomensday #internationalwomensday2024

The just released 2024 Lean In and McKinsey & Company's 10th annual Women in the Workplace report highlights the progress made and challenges ahead. The rise of women in leadership roles is inspiring, reshaping workplaces and nurturing new talent. Yet, maintaining these gains remains tough. With current trends, achieving gender parity in corporate America is nearly 50 years away. Concerningly, there are signs of diminishing commitment to diversity. 😲 The "glass ceiling" isn't actually made of glass! It's made of the mindsets of managers and HR. 🛑 Stop telling women to break through. 👉 Start fixing the real problem... ...to capitalize on the benefits of gender diversity at the top. (Studies show that companies with gender-diverse executive teams are 25% more likely to outperform their peers financially. Yet, we're still struggling with the basics of equality.) Register for my newsletter to read this week's blog on why responsibility for women's advancement lies with managers and HR, not women ourselves. It's out on Wednesday. https://buff.ly/4ckWlpp

Still buzzing from an incredible evening talking with public and social sector leaders about the unique challenges and opportunities they face as they work toward advancing gender diversity and inclusion at all levels. McKinsey & Company and Lean In have now been partnering on the Women in the Workplace report for 10 years (!) and it remains the largest comprehensive study of the state of women in the American workforce. If you haven’t read the 2024 report yet, I would definitely encourage you to do so here: https://lnkd.in/ef8mEF37 My key takeaway? While women have made progress in some areas, there is still much work that we all can do to create a workplace experience that is inclusive and equitable for everyone. #WomenintheWorkplace
