INAUGURAL EGEI CAREER WORKSHOP 🙌 Yesterday, we held our inaugural EGEI career workshop to explore a career as a Management Consultant. A big thanks to Tereza Maixnerova and Vojtech Konecny, who shared their experiences and personal tips on how to navigate a career in consulting and the successes and challenges of being a consultant. We learnt that Consulting is a GREAT ENVIRONMENT FOR: 1.⁠ ⁠Meeting motivated, passionate and talented people and that motivates you to push yourself beyond your limits  2.⁠ ⁠Articulating opinions and ideas, thereby fostering a strong entrepreneurial environment  3.⁠ ⁠Engaging in a wide variety of projects across different business functions and industries Nevertheless, a career in Consulting has its own CHALLENGES:  1.⁠ ⁠Avoid feeling disheartened when your proposed recommendations are not being implemented by your clients or fall short of the desired impact 2.⁠ ⁠Maintain a healthy work-life balance in consulting requires conscientious effort. Given the client-facing nature of the job and the time sensitive demands of project management, effectively managing personal well-being while navigating professional commitments is essential to achieve long term success Thank you once again to our speakers, our student representative in the Alumni Association, Gellert Turkevi-Nagy for organizing it, and to everyone that joined and participated spontaneously during the session! Fastest hiring process I witnessed, ever, in my life. When a recruiter needs a employee to fill the spot, he hires him /her. I submitted a resume on monday. The engineer (mechanic) took the interview the following wednesday morning, took the plane this thursday morning from Toronto to Montreal, had medical exam at 1pm and started working as an extra on the ship in the evening by the time he gets Transport Canada endorsement. NO BS. 1 job opening, 1 candidate and the job starts. See? It's that simple.
