North Atlantic is pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Doucette as Chief Operating Officer at North Sun Energy. A partnership between Petro‑Canada and North Atlantic, Mike will be responsible for managing North Sun’s 109 gas and convenience locations across Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and PEI. With over two decades of experience in the grocery retail sector, including Vice President of Operations at Loblaw Companies, Mike’s skills in operational leadership, strategic planning, and team development will help drive North Sun Energy’s strategic growth while maintaining our customer-focused operational excellence.

So proud of Adriel Santoso and the Athens Chick-fil-A Barnett Shoals FSU team for being ranked as the #2 drive-thru in the entire chain across all dayparts! Effort doesn't always directly correlate with results, but these leaders are seeing their hard work clearly pay off here. I'm reminded that performing with consistent excellence is difficult (takes lots of hard work but also lots of intentionality to ensure that everyone is working on the correct things), but very simple (be fast, be accurate, be friendly, etc. Nothing complex about it). The formula is simply: 1. Having a great culture (clear mission, purpose, important values that everyone fights to speak/act in alignment with each day) 2. Having enough people and great people (team players who are talented and self-motivated) 3. Having good systems and processes that are effective to ensure OE 4. Consistently running the heck out of points 1-3 EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Ensuring that everyone is doing THEIR JOB. "If you ain't first, you're last"- Ricky Bobby. Can we move up one spot?! We'll see 😄

Looking ahead, my goals are centered around enhancing member experience, streamlining operational processes, and fostering a positive, collaborative work environment. A few key areas I’m focusing on: • Improving Financial Solutions: Identifying new ways to help our members make the most of their financial opportunities. • Leadership Development: Continuing to develop my leadership skills to support my team more effectively. • Operational Efficiency: Implementing strategies that ensure smooth, efficient operations while maintaining the highest level of service. Setting goals not only helps me stay on track but also keeps me aligned with our mission to provide exceptional service to our members.

As we have reached the end of our fiscal year, it’s a perfect time to reflect on our journey using the “Roses 🌹, Thorns🌵, Buds 🌱” method. This approach has been instrumental in our team, allowing us to celebrate successes, identify areas for growth, and acknowledge the challenges we’ve faced. Here’s a look back at my personal highlights and learnings from the past year. 🌹 Roses: Celebrating the Highs One of the most significant highlights for me this fiscal year was being accepted into the SCHOTT leadership program, Horizon 1. This achievement came after the required year-end evaluation, nomination, and an external interview process. It’s an opportunity to further develop my leadership skills and contribute more effectively to our organization. 🌱 Buds: Areas for Potential Growth Looking ahead, I still see potential in expanding the value of Sales Excellence (SE) within our organization. We are more than just pricing experts; our role encompasses a broader spectrum that can significantly impact the company’s success. We as a team agreed to communicate our value proposition more effectively.  🌵 Thorns: Acknowledging the Challenges This year also brought its share of challenges. One key thorn was the realization of the limitations within our system. Despite our best efforts and intentions to drive change, we also encountered systemic barriers that hindered progress.   Looking forward to develop buds and thorns into possible roses in the new fiscal year!

🗣 We often need to divide in order to multiply. Recently, we restructured the Field Services department, and I’m thrilled to have two incredible team leads supporting me in managing asset verification inspections, check exchanges, unannounced visits, and GPS installations. Their dedication and hard work have not only made the transition smooth but also led to better performance than when I was managing everything on my own. A true leader understands the importance of delegation and recognizes that asking for help is not a sign of weakness but a strength. By entrusting these responsibilities to my team leads, we’ve created a more efficient and effective workflow, allowing everyone to shine in their roles. Leadership is not about doing everything yourself; it’s about empowering those around you and celebrating their successes.

Exciting things are happening for our Bridgestone Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). The BNEXT (future leaders) ERG has officially expanded to add a Bridgestone Retail Operations chapter. This chapter focuses on professional development, networking, and career navigation for our retail and retail support teammates. Happy Boss day! After a nice needed vacation, I returned to the office receiving praise and appreciation for contributions. However, I always enjoy highlighting that Operations is never a one man show. It’s a collaborative effort with a team. This picture does not depict “bosses.” Rather, it showcases a group of leaders who innovatively lead our individual teams toward success, daily, to best serve dealer and credit union partners.
