"There's over 150 applicants for the role, is there any point in me still applying?" This is what a Project Manager candidate called to ask me earlier this week. Linkedin Jobs (rightly or wrongly) displays the number of people that have applied for each role. Don't let this put you off applying! Lets break the numbers down, out of the 161 candidates who applied ⬇ 🔹 47 didn't have a right to work in the UK. 🔹 58 had no prior experience in the Construction industry 🔹 17 had the technical background but lacked in industry experience. 🔹 32 had the required amount of industry experience but not the correct technical ability/skillset. 🔹 7 had been shortlisted for the role* It goes to show, if you think you have the right skill set and experience then you should go for it. Even if you are not 100% the right candidate right now, you're on that recruiter's/employers radar for future roles. *From the 7 that were shortlisted, 2 candidates are interviewing this week 🤞

All too often, I see recruiters post their jobs on here, and I do it too. We all get excited about a new job we're recruiting on and how HOT it is, but most of us are guilty of falling into the trap. What trap? We immediately use the same buzzwords (compensation, benefits, structure). You know what we don't do? Talk about what makes the job and the company GREAT. We are trying to connect the right talent to the right jobs, and it appears to so many that the value is only in the immediately tangible things. The truth is, the best placements are those where the candidate and client align on values, personality, culture, and vision. Reflection post.
