Useful article, hopefully it is widely read. Here is Croakey Health Media budget submission from last year, advocating for a comprehensive policy framework and implementation strategy for growing NFP public interest journalism sector. https://lnkd.in/g9T_ezt4

The International Panel on the Information Environment (IPIE) surveyed over 400 researchers from 66 countries about the global information environment. A key assessment from the report is that the availability of accurate information and diversity of voices are the most important features of a healthy information ecosystem. But... two-thirds (63%) of respondents expect the information environment to worsen in the future (compared to 54% the prior year). Highlighted by the red-shaded portions of the chart below, owners of social media platforms and government/politicians/political parties are viewed as the biggest threat to a healthy information environment. Nearly half view journalists/news organizations as either no threat or very small. #trustedjournalism #qualityjournalism #informationecosystem #digitalnews #socialmedia #misinformation #AIcontent #fakenews #journalism #socialmediafornews
