When advancing climate justice, the need to ensure the inclusivity of the historically marginalized cannot be overemphasized. Within communities, there are those whose voices have, for a long time, been side-lined and whose efforts have been excluded from decision making processes. These include women, youths and people with disabilities. It's important to acknowledge the existence of the barriers to participation that such groups face and have them addressed accordingly. With two chapters of which one as the main author focusing on how does the body of energy legislation in general and community energy regulation in particular affects access to energy in Ethiopia, Malawi and Mozambique.

⚡ Amid a global energy crisis, affordable and clean energy emerged as a top priority in our 2024 Global Youth Outlook survey, which engaged 2,200 children and young adults from diverse global regions. However, this is also one of the top goals for which respondents feel most disempowered —24% indicated "I would like to support the goals but cannot act on it." This highlights a crucial opportunity for governments to engage and empower youth.
