DAY 5: Problem of the Day : Find the Number of Islands Language: Python Proud to maintain a 5-day #streak and earned a Geekbit! Today's challenge involved a grid of land ('1') and water ('0'), where the task was to identify and count islands. An island is a group of connected land pieces that can be adjacent either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁: We had to explore all 8 possible directions to ensure every part of the island was counted. Each time we found a new unvisited land mass, we incremented the island count. This type of problem is great for improving understanding of graph traversal algorithms like DFS and tackling real-world geographical scenarios like flood maps or network clusters!
