It has been said about Tom Brady, that he loved the process of becoming great, more than the idea of being great...let that sink in. How many of us, regardless of what we do, can actually say that. Below is a great video worth watching that gives some insight into Brady's passion and love of the game, as well as how that fueled his preparation, which fueled his greatness. He talks about TRUST, COMMITMENT, CONTINUITY, INTENTIONALITY, amongst many other aspects of what is required, to 'become great'. For athletes, this represents some great insights from someone who had an intense belief in who he is, and how that, with the above mentioned attributes, propelled him to become the GOAT...but the real takeaway should lie in the fact that he was not overly thought upon to be an NFL QB (see his scouting report), let alone the GOAT. For coaches, he repeteadly talks about being given the tools to develop as a player... in addition to being so prepared that it allowed him to be relaxed and not stressed out. Two elements that are not always displayed by coaches, especially when mistakes and losses occur. Don’t Let Your History Define Your Worth This week I had the opportunity to break bread with fellow “Most Powerful Latinas,” along with a group of up-and-coming leaders. The conversation quickly became vulnerable, with the senior leaders truly devoted to elevating and sharing their wisdom. It reminded me how often our internal “committee,” (those limiting beliefs from our past) can stop us from moving forward. That inner dialogue can prevent us from taking bold steps, but there’s a way to interrupt it—just go for it anyway. What does “IT” look like? IT can be moments of courage and vulnerability, like: * Raising your hand though insecurity * Sharing your real story * Showing vulnerability * Giving tough feedback out of genuine care * Asking for that long overdue raise * Negotiating a higher salary * Standing firm in the boardroom * Ensuring you get the credit you deserve The key is recognizing when your mind is holding you back, and then telling that internal “committee” ..... "Stop it!" It’s about pushing through the fear, and doing it anyway. 🔥 We all have the power to support one another, share our experiences, and elevate each other.
