⏮️ Throwback | Quantum Night At our embassy, the Innovation 💡 Department collaborates closely with Dutch and French innovation clusters to promote bilateral and European partnerships. A good example of this is the collaboration in the field of quantum technology ⚛️. With this key technology we are on the eve of a technological revolution that can contribute to solutions for all kinds of major societal challenges, including healthcare, energy transition, secure communication and researching new materials   Both The Netherlands 🇳🇱 and France 🇫🇷 recognize the strategic importance of quantum technology and have launched joint initiatives to advance research, development and innovation in this field. International collaboration generates new opportunities for Australia Australia has been working closely with international partners through bilateral relationships, multilateral arrangements and standards setting bodies. Major developments include: • The establishment of the Quantum Development Group (QDG), to promote resilient and reliable supply chains, research and development collaboration and a quantum future underpinned by shared interests and values • Signing Joint Statements of Cooperation on Quantum Technologies with the United States and United Kingdom to enhance each country’s capabilities through improved market access and knowledge sharing • Engagement with the Multilateral Dialogue on Quantum (MDQ) to coordinate international quantum efforts  • The establishment of the Quad Investors Network Centre of Excellence in Quantum Information Sciences to drive greater collaboration and market access between Australia, the United States, Japan and India  • The establishment of the Joint Technical Committee on Quantum Technologies to improve coordination of technical standards, reduce duplication and to help make best use of the expert resources around the globe. 

On October 11, 2024, the 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝗜𝗖𝗤𝗜𝗔) urged Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to prioritize quantum technologies during Canada's 2025 G7 Presidency which coincides with the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. 🇨🇦 ⚛️ The letter, signed by Quantum Industry Canada (QIC) alongside the other founding ICQIA consortia - QED-C®, Quantum STrategic industry Alliance for Revolution(Q-STAR), and the European Quantum Industry Consortium (QuIC) - represents nearly 600 stakeholders across the global quantum innovation ecosystem, including all G7 nations and the European Union. 🌐 It emphasizes Canada's unique opportunity to lead crucial dialogue and action in this critical technology domain, highlighting quantum's potential to drive economic growth, enhance security, and address global challenges. 🪴 This letter is a testament to the cooperative nature of the global quantum industry. 🔙 On June 2023, the QUARTER consortium was presented at the Digital Europe Programme Info Session in Madrid, Spain. Hosted by the The Secretary of State of Digitization and Artificial Intelligence of the Government of Spain, the info session brought together experts and innovators to discuss Europe's digital and quantum future and its related projects. This event served as a key platform to discuss the European Union’s vision for digital transformation and showcased groundbreaking projects like QUARTER. 💡 The session, presented by Vanesa Diaz, CEO of LuxQuanta, highlighted how the QUARTER project is advancing Europe’s leadership in quantum communication technologies, focusing on secure data encryption through Quantum Key Distribution (QKD). Today, our Trilligent team in Brussels Timea Strihova, Lusine Petrosyan and Ainhoa Segurola Uli, along with our Advisory Board member Pablo Asbo (LLM), attended the "Quantum Technologies - How Can We Lead in the Industries of the Future?" event organized by Euractiv and The International Center for Future Generations - ICFG.   Here are some of our key takeaways from the conversation: ⭕ Quantum technologies will be a transformative force, but the industry is still in its early stages. There is a vast space for innovation, especially in critical areas like public health, security, and supply chains. ⭕ At the same time, when we talk about quantum, everyone's mind jumps to quantum computers, a thing of the future. Quantum sensors, though, are very much a reality right now and deserve more attention. ⭕ While Europe has made strong public investments in quantum technologies, it still lags behind in private capital, which is crucial for scaling and industrial development. According to Mario Draghi's report, EU companies in the quantum sector attract only 5% of global private funding, compared to the 50% share secured by U.S. companies. ⭕ The European Commission is working on a Quantum Pact, expected to become public in the next months, meant to be as an umbrella to coordinate all quantum-related initiatives on EU.   The event was a great opportunity to delve deeper into the potential of quantum technologies and connect with peers in Brussels.
