Case managers contribute to healthcare economics by implementing cost-effective interventions, reducing readmissions, and improving patient flow, which can lead to significant financial savings for healthcare systems. Part of this is coordinating referrals. When the demographics are wrong, patients cannot be contacted, and case managers are notified, more and more case managers are asking providers' offices to take on this responsibility of hunting the patient down for the initial appointment. Not only does this burden the provider staff, but it also puts case managers out of business. Initial appointments with a provider can have legal and logistics issues that cost carriers money. Having a provider doing case management activities can result in loss and questions a provider cannot answer or may answer incorrectly. After being both a case manager and a provider, I repeatedly push back case management tasks to the case managers. #whosejobisitanyway #workerscompensation #medicalcasemanagement #workerscompensationcasemanagement

This report popped up in my feed again recently. Going into another cycle of extreme challenging times financially across the NHS will mean tough decisions and bravery. We all know the value of a clinically led service but this needs to go hand in hand with strong, proportionate and valued admin staff and processes to sit alongside our clinicians to drive this change. Many clinical staff are not available to fill the capacity gaps and will never be available. Under-estimate admin during this period at your pearl. If you cannot recruit hard to recruit clinical staff then some of the gaps may be able to be filled by re-thinking the value stream(s) they belong to and reflect on how admin can close some of the gap. https://lnkd.in/ekJpyMdq
