3 days of this incredible view… 🌅 (and an even better view into the world of trading) I just wrapped up IMC Sydney’s 2024 Launchpad program - and wow, what an experience! Here’s what stood out: 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀, 𝗽𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗿, 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀... The learning never stopped, and neither did the fun! 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁? Experiencing IMC’s unique culture up close. From Macca’s to Market-Making, here are 3 things I noticed that I can’t stop thinking about. 𝟭. 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴. Just like in Macca’s, where kitchen teams support the frontline, IMC’s engineering teams work hand-in-hand with the trading teams. Different environments, but the same truth: 𝘞𝘦 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘸𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘦. 🤝 𝟮. 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁. At Macca’s, we say: "We’re not a burger business serving people, but a people business serving burgers." IMC lives that too — from Barry’s Bootcamp to delicious waffles 🧇 for brekkie, they take care of their people. It’s organisations like this that make you appreciate the value of investing in talented teams. 𝟯. 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀. There’s a thrill to fast-paced environments. At Macca’s, peak periods are all about synergy. At IMC, it’s about rapidly moving from ideation to execution. That fast-paced energy? 𝘚𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘹𝘵. ⚡ In just 3 days, I’ve gained insights that will stick with me for a long time. Thrilled to share that I have completed my Consumer Insights and Market Intelligence externship with Beats by Dre & Extern! This experience has been incredibly rewarding and has helped me build invaluable skills. I got to learn the following during the 4 weeks: -Familiarized with Beats by Dr. Dre's vision, mission, and brand philosophy. -Learnt about the terms and concepts in branding and marketing Research and identify macro consumer trends among GenZ -Learnt and practised using various methods of data collection like surveys, interviews, etc. -How to conduct a brand and communication sentiment analysis -How to analyze Beats by Dre brand positioning and compare it to competitors -How to create and deliver a compelling presentation showcasing insights on how Beats can connect meaningfully with GenZ. special thanks to Special thanks to my fellow Externs and the team at Beats by Dre—Michael Guerrero and Camille Barbier for the guidance and mentorship through the process. First up, a masterclass on enhancing self-management through the powerful SOAR technique - Self-Outlook-Action-Reflection. By distinguishing what's within my sphere of influence from external factors, I've gained the ability to conquer tasks without drowning in stress. Juggling thesis research with the Future Talent Project? Challenge accepted! But that's not all! I also dived into the art of personal branding - crafting an authentic, impactful presence that spotlights your unique value proposition. The key? Start by truly understanding your brand identity, then unveil it through elements that genuinely excite your passions and showcase your strengths. And of course, continuously adapt to stay relevant in our ever-evolving world. The plan going forward? To navigate all projects with poise, sailing through challenges without excessive stress. I'm also determined to fortify my personal brand, amplifying its resonance. In fact, I recently shared insights from this BCA experience at a campus event - a step towards unveiling my brand's authenticity. While implementing these game-changing insights, I'll continue tapping into my peer network for honest feedback - a catalyst for exponential growth. What have you learned since you started your position???? We are celebrating everything February at Digital Edge today. We are celebrating our people, our work, our business and all those that engage with Digital Edge. The theme of the day has been 2 pronged. 1. Not settling for second best. it isn't about being 1st, it's about asking how we can be better. 2. Perspective. It is important to know how far we have come so that we can understand how far we can go. An amazing team session where I asked each of the team the question... What has been the biggest lesson you have learned since you started your position here at DE? Here are my teams answers and I LOVE it! - I can learn anything - The power of TEAM - I am more capable than I thought - I can talk to people and be listened to - I didn't think I was as adaptable - I didn't think I would be able to build the size of the systems I am now. - I am only ever a second or decision away from a change. I'm a second away from being anything and doing anything. WOW! Like, WOW! Incredible realisations. I am officially blown away by my teams reaction to this question. 🚀 What is a Barcamp? 🤔 Yesterday, I had the pleasure of participating in a Deutsche Bank Barcamp for the first time. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽? A Barcamp is a special type of meeting or conference. There are no fixed plans in advance about what will happen. Instead, people come together to talk about topics that interest them. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀: 📝𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: At the beginning, all participants can suggest topics they want to talk about or discuss. Then, the other participants vote on which topics should be covered. 🕒 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: After the topics are decided, they are divided into different time slots and rooms. Participants then choose which sessions they want to attend. 🗣️𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: During the sessions, participants discuss the chosen topics. It can include discussions, workshops, presentations, or other forms of interaction. You're not obligated to stay for a whole session; you can come and go as you please, depending on your interest. ☕𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠: There are often breaks between sessions where participants can exchange ideas with each other. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐝: The opportunity for all participants to actively participate and shape the direction of the event. There are no obligations to attend sessions for the entire duration, and there are no hierarchies. Additionally, it's fantastic to meet colleagues from other areas and benefit from their expertise.
