Aspiring Public Accountant Seeking Personal Development

As an accounting intern approaching the 10/15 tax deadline, I reflect on the learning and growth I’ve experienced over the past two months. Transitioning from a summer to a fall intern, the 9/15 tax deadline was my first challenge, allowing me to test my skills and knowledge. The fast-paced yet efficient working environment of extension season has prepared me for the demands of the upcoming busy season. During my internship, I have gained many skills that contribute to my professional development, but here are three key ones to highlight: 1) Time Management – Handling multiple tasks simultaneously has taught me to prioritize effectively by staying organized and setting daily goals. 2) Self-Advocacy – Reaching out to ask for tasks, seek clarification, and request feedback from others to enhance my learning and growth. 3) Questioning Attitude- Embracing curiosity in tasks to deepen my understanding of accounting concepts but also promote relationship-building and collaboration. As extension season comes to an end, I remark on my professional development that has prepared me for the challenges ahead in busy season. A big thank you to Wall, Einhorn & Chernitzer for providing me with the opportunity to strengthen my skills and contribute to my growth in the accounting field.
