The role tourism operators play in not only sharing the awe-inspiring experience of seeing our Great Barrier Reef with over 2 million visitors from around the world each year, but also in monitoring its health and as stewards of their reef sites is critical. There’s important information in this year’s summer snapshot that makes the complex issues impacting our reef easier to understand: and an important message about the need to act on climate change now. Want to know more? The best way is to visit it for yourself with one of more than 70 eco-certified tourism operators, many of whom have Master Reef Guide on board. https://lnkd.in/gAkSQ2nJ

The Reef snapshot: summer 2023−24 provides a summary of conditions on the Great Barrier Reef throughout summer, and how these conditions impact coral and Reef health and the actions being taken to help coral health. The snapshot is a joint initiative of the Australian Government’s lead management and science agencies for the Great Barrier Reef, the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, the Australian Institute of Marine Science and CSIRO.
