Last week it was launched by Avant-garde Health the US physician and hospital Research All-Stars. This list represents the top 5% of surgeons and hospitals who have authored cutting-edge research in various specialties. Among the learnings from developing the ranking, it was possible to identify that the exceptional research has been linked to lower patient mortality rates and fewer complications: patients cared for by these Research All-Stars have 5% lower post-discharge complication and mortality rates, and that women surgeons are also 20% more likely to be a Research All-Star in their field. A patient with CKD on HD and prior permacath insertion via both internal jugular veins (IJVs) was referred to the interventional radiology (IR) department due to a failed attempt of permacath insertion. CT venogram revealed occlusion of the lower IJVs on both sides with drainage through collaterals & the external jugular vein (EJV). Access was gained into right IJV higher up in the neck to facilitate placement of a vascular sheath. Subsequently, the occluded segment of the right lower IJV was successfully negotiated and venoplasty was performed. Following this, a repuncture was made into the recanalized segment of the right lower IJV, through which the permacath was inserted obviating the need of subclavian/femoral access. #interventionalradiology #ir #cirse #permacath #nephrology #venoplasty #hemodialysis #kidney

To all you paediatric radiologists out there, In 2013 a questionnaire was distributed amongst the members of the ESPR, the focus of that questionnaire was to evaluate the status of #paediatric #postmortem imaging in Europe. Now more than 10 years later, it is time to update this study to see if advancements have been made in this field of interest within paediatric radiology. The outcome of this questionnaire will be compared to the 2013 questionnaire and the results will be submitted for publication in Pediatric Radiology.
