EPA Clean Ports The Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority has been selected to receive an anticipated $21,905,782 to initiate the transition to a zero-emission future for the Port of Detroit in Michigan. The proposed project includes the acquisition and deployment of battery-electric cargo handling equipment, vessels, railcar movers, charging equipment, and solar arrays to support the electricity needs of the new equipment. The project also includes the scrappage of diesel cargo handling equipment, a vessel, and a railcar mover to reduce air pollution at the port and in the surrounding area. As part of this project, the applicant plans to develop a stakeholder engagement plan to facilitate community engagement and a guidebook for workforce development. CRISI: In Michigan, more than $67 million will be invested in Detroit RECHARGED - Realizing Environmental Changes Happening Around Railroads Generating Equitable Development, which will improve and expand the Livernois Intermodal Facility by installing approximately 17,200 feet of new track and upgrading paving as well replacing diesel gantry cranes with new hybrid and fully electric gantry cranes in Detroit and Wayne County, Michigan. The project will benefit local business owners and surrounding residents by improving service performance, enhancing multimodal connections, and reducing negative environmental impacts.  The RAIB team (The Ray Highway, Arcadis, InfraStrategies LLC, Beverly A. Dallas Area Rapid Transit is set to begin testing portions of track that run through Coppell for its Silver Line rail. Preliminary track testing could begin in December, but DART officials won't test vehicles on the Coppell portion until January, Project Communications Manager Mario Zavala said. The $2 billion rail spans 26 miles and traverse seven North Texas cities including Coppell, Grapevine, Plano and Richardson. 🚗 A bridge to better commutes: Santa Fe Springs tackles congestion 🚆 Until recently, the spot where BNSF’s track met the Rosecrans-Marquardt intersection in Santa Fe Springs, California was considered the busiest and most congested railroad crossing in the state, with 45,000 vehicles and 135 trains passing through every day. To address this, a $156 million publicly funded bridge was approved to be constructed over our tracks, removing the intersection. This successful separation of vehicle and train traffic not only benefits the Southern California community by mitigating traffic and improving safety, but also increases the fluidity of freight and passenger rail through our San Bernardino corridor. #freight #rail #infrastructure #SantaFeSpringsCA
