Mapping European Research Council - frontier research artificial intelligence | European Commission - https://lnkd.in/gF_Mt5bW The European Research Council (ERC) is the premier European funding organisation for excellent frontier research. Since its establishment in 2007, it has been a cornerstone of the EU’s research and innovation funding programmes. The ERC gives its grantees the freedom to develop ambitious research projects that can lead to advances at the frontiers of knowledge and set a clear and inspirational target for frontier research across Europe. The ERC funds a rich and diverse portfolio of projects in all fields of science and scholarship, without any predefined academic or policy priorities. These projects can have an impact well beyond science and provide frontier knowledge and innovation to help solve societal challenges and inform EU policy objectives. This report aims to highlight how ERC-funded curiosity-driven research projects are developing or using Artificial Intelligence in their scientific processes, and how these projects and their outputs can help to both define and enable the implementation of policies related to AI and its cross-cutting applications. This report represents the first comprehensive analysis of the ERC’s AI portfolio European Commission European Research Council (ERC) #AI #EU #Artificialintelligence #Research #Impact #Socialimpact #Innovation #Technology #Science #GovTech #Funding #FrontierResearch #DeepTech #MachineLearning #NeuralNetworks #DeepLearning #Policy #AIinnovation

📣 Guidance on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in the Development and Review of Research Proposals. The federal research funding agencies are are pleased to unveil the Guidance on the Use of #ArtificialIntelligence in the Development and Review of Research Proposals. In November 2023, the agencies established a panel of external experts to provide advice on the use of generative artificial intelligence (#AI) in the development and review of research proposals submitted for grant applications. Intended for researchers in Canada and Canadian post-secondary institutions, the guidance, developed by the agencies, draws heavily on the advice from the panel and on feedback from the research community received during a public consultation period that closed in June 2024. The agencies wish to thank the members of the panel of external experts and the research community for their valuable contributions. ▶️ tinyurl.com/m3kzz4vw #️⃣ #CdnSci #ResearchExcellence #AI 👀 Canadian Institutes of Health Research | Instituts de recherche en santé du Canada Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) SSHRC-CRSH Canada Foundation for Innovation/Fondation canadienne pour l'innovation

We are super excited to inform everyone, that our first ON CAMPUS "Open House for all scholars, research enthusiasts and doctoral aspirants is scheduled on 19th October,2024. The discussion on the Effective collaboration with AI tools for PhD Research is one of the most sought-after discussions which research and PhD scholars have been wanting to explore. As a large amount of survey, research projects have now become data driven. AI has now been regarded as a potential resource of academic innovation. With the AI now in place, researchers are now starting to see how AI can multiply value for them. Automation cuts costs in survey and brings new levels of consistency, speed and scalability to the process. So, what are you waiting for? Let's contribute to the discussion and see how we can make AI more utilitarian in research and academic journey. The detail of the Open House is as follows: Title: Effective Collaboration with AI Tools for Your PhD Research Date: 19th October 2024 Time: 11am onwards followed by Lunch Venue: T-1, F-18, Prithviraj Jindal Academic Block, JGU Link to register: https://bitly.nz/1JK3m #JGU #academics #research #highereducation #thebigfour #counsellors #innovation #internationalapplicants #capacitybuilding #scopus #academicgrowth #publications #globalfaculty #datascience #statistics #internationalrelations #technology #legal #liberalarts #sustainabledevelopment #publicpolicy #consulting #industry #researchexcellence #Artificalintelligence #interdisplinaryresearch #internationalcollaborations

Next week, I’m glad to say that I have the opportunity to do a little mini tour in the Rome area and talk about some of the research we do in the research group on AI and Society at Lunds Tekniska Högskola Lunds universitet in Sweden. As part of that, I look forward to visit Viterbo and the Università degli Studi della Tuscia to talk about ”diritto e Intelligenza artificiale” (say it!), that is, legal issues related to AI. For my presentation on fairness and risks of discrimination in AI use, I’ll draw from an empirical, survey-based study on AI in recruitment we conducted in collaboration with the Swedish Equality Ombudsman Diskrimineringsombudsmannen, DO in 2023 (see below). Looking forward to meet Barbara Giovanna Bello, Daniela Vitiello and colleagues! - The paper, with me, James White and Claire Ingram Bogusz: (2024) ”The Artificial Recruiter: Risks of Discrimination in Employers’ Use of AI and Automated Decision‐Making.” https://lnkd.in/dvF9wZmw - Of relevance, more broadly and theoretically (and not really legally): Larsson, S., Liinason, M., Tanqueray, L., & Castellano, G.
