It’s International Men’s Day today, and yet… have you noticed how few posts there are compared to International Women’s Day? It makes me wonder: why is this day barely acknowledged? Let’s face it, we’re missing an opportunity here—not just to celebrate men, but to engage them in the critical conversations that shape our world. Conversations about diversity, equity, and leadership. Conversations that don’t just benefit women but enrich everyone at the table. Here’s the thing: I work in a very male-dominated industry. It’s a landscape many would call “traditional.” But even in my office, which has a fair mix of women, I’m not sure we always check in with our male peers in the same way we do with women. Yet the stats are sobering. Men account for three out of every four suicides globally and often face societal pressures to bottle up emotions and “man up.” As someone raising both a daughter and a son, I think about this all the time. My daughter deserves to grow up confident and strong, but so does my son. He deserves to grow up empathetic, progressive and supported to express vulnerability without judgment. Leadership isn’t just about who’s in the room—it’s about how the room operates. It’s about creating spaces where people feel valued, heard, and able to contribute fully. Over the past six months, I’ve been exploring what truly drives high-performing teams, and one thing stands out: cognitive diversity and psychological safety are essential. But here’s the catch—those qualities can’t exist if even part of the room feels overlooked or unsupported, regardless of gender. So today, I want to acknowledge the men—our colleagues, partners, brothers, and friends—who often work behind the scenes to drive change, challenge outdated systems, and support inclusion. Let’s make sure they know they’re seen, valued, and encouraged to keep pushing for better. Because here’s the truth: If we’re walking forward together, doesn’t that mean we’re already on the same side... #InternationalMensDay #positiverolemodels #Leadership #Empathy #Diversity The LCap Group
Thank you Rana! We (some) do feel undervalued at times not always thought. At times when I express this to my family I can see them mentally rolling their eyes!!
