Supporting Renewable Energy Solutions for New Zealand’s Future It was great to see the transformation this site has undergone in the past few weeks. When I first visited, it was an unused, empty paddock with a condemned house in the middle. Now, the facelift has begun, with earthmovers and civil works well underway. Over the next year, many local businesses will contribute to constructing this solar farm, along with a quiet herd of woolly workers to keep the grass at bay. I was onsite with Infratec, setting up one of three towers to be placed on this solar farm build they are undertaking for New Plymouth Airport. This is yet another solar energy site we are securing, adding to our growing list of renewable energy projects. Arlington, Massachusetts, is set to become the state's first community to offer 100% renewable electricity as the default option in its Arlington Community Electricity (ACE) program starting November 2024. This milestone is part of the town's Net Zero Action Plan and was achieved through a competitive bid process that secured a new electricity supplier at a lower rate. 📢 We’re excited to announce that our new facility at Anchor Business Park in Little Island, Cork, is nearly complete! A highlight of this project is the building’s impressive energy efficiency. We’ve equipped it with a 122kWp Solar PV System, capable of generating over 86,000 kWh annually, and a 75kW Hybrid Inverter. This setup will not only grant us energy independence but also contribute to reducing carbon emissions, underscoring our commitment to environmental sustainability. 🌍 This initiative is a major step forward in our pledge to sustainability. We’re focused on significantly cutting our absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 2030. V&A Waterfront Goes Green! 🌿 The V&A Waterfront has secured a deal with Etana Energy to get 70% of its electricity from wind and solar starting early 2026! This 10-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) will provide 43 GWh of renewable energy annually, moving the Waterfront closer to its goal of net-zero emissions by 2035. André Theys, Executive Manager: Operations, says this deal will cut emissions by addressing 90% of their energy-related footprint, setting a green example for Cape Town and beyond. With nearly 80% of its electricity coming from renewables, the V&A is also reducing waste and water use, and phasing out single-use plastics.
