💡Breaking the Cycle of Vertical Cracking in Ladle Linings: An Innovative Approach💡
Vertical cracking in refractory linings is a persistent challenge, especially in the slag zones and barrels of steel treatment ladles. These cracks often appear early in the campaign, intensifying over time and reducing the service life of magnesia-carbon bricks. At Mayerton, we’ve taken a proactive stance to solve this problem by reimagining ladle design and production processes.
Our reversed pressing process is a breakthrough in addressing mechanical, thermal, and chemical stresses, ensuring robust brick compaction and structural flexibility. By altering the pressing direction and optimising the binding concept, we’ve significantly reduced, and in some cases eliminated vertical cracking.
This innovation has been validated through rigorous research, scientific analysis, and extensive industrial trials, with proven success in real-world conditions. Presented at UNITECR21, our findings highlight a sustainable and efficient solution to an industry-wide issue, setting a new standard in ladle refractory performance.
