What’s one thing you’re guaranteed to find on a ship? Rope, of course – ships carry plenty of rope to help secure them to the berth and prevent movement while they’re loading. Each that comes into Abbot Point will have between 6 and 18 winches, with each winch holding 250m of line. The part of the ship where a line (or rope) starts determines the name of the line: 🔹 Head Lines: Long lines up to 80m long run from the focsle (front of ship) 🔹 Stern Lines: Long lines up to 80m long run from the aft (back of ship) 🔹 Forward Breast Lines: Short lines up to 30m long run from the focsle 🔹 Aft Breast Lines: Short lines up to 30m long run from the aft 🔹 Forward and Aft Spring Lines: Short lines running from the middle of the ship (both forward and back) So, next time you see a ship in the port – count the winches and have a guess at how much rope the ship is carrying! 🪢

Competitive Shooting Drill For Warming Up! Rather than passively warming up, here is a shooting drill to start practice. It will ramp up intensity, get your players mentally focused, and get the competitive juices flowing. The drill alternates between 3-pointers and one-dribble pull-ups, keeping players moving and engaged to replicate game-like shots.

When I started AFL S&C in late 80s at Essendon (especially from 1991). Everyone power cleaned. Squatted. Plyos. Stairs. Pure Speed. Glute Hams. Performance Enhancement. Injury Prevention was not a thought. Electronic speed times were lightning. Timed players with lights from 1993 indoors. But by 1998 I changed to a individual based "pilates/core/proprio/unilateral etc blah" program which had veered into the injury prevention domain because of focus on keeping players on park (haha important). But by early 2000s I simply tried to find the middle ground with Geelong. Dose and teach speed always. Some players in Performance Enhancement phases and some for want better word, Injury Prevention or maintenance phases .With speed dosing the constant for all. Interesting we see Noah Lyles ripping up a power clean. Sure if we had an inner sanctum view of his program we would see some very specific needs addressed. But I am a little biased. Still love to see some OL's ripped up off floor (ie fast shit) alongside some good bounding/speed. Obviously we have alternatives now from Trap Bars to Keiser for example. Tracking my data over 20 years AFL. Seemed to get faster more powerful players by applying "blow torch" sensibly. More injuries? Not sure?
