Last week, #READJUST participated in the OECD - OCDE World Forum on #wellbeing - a three-day event featuring panel discussions and workshops focused on the importance of people’s well-being in public policy and societal action. 💚 💪 Our key takeaways from the meeting 💡👇 🔹 We need better ways to measure the impact of firms on people and inequalities 🔹 Policies should be designed with an intergenerational focus to ensure long-term well-being 🔹 Policies lag behind technological advancements, especially AI, requiring tools to track emerging impacts We’re thrilled by the insightful discussions and idea exchanges we had with everyone who visited our booth, as well as with the teams behind MERGE, Fitter-EU and ST4TE. It was a great opportunity to connect! #OECDWellbeing #JustTransitions #Sustainability #HorizonEU #EUResearch

The debate for innovation in the public sector is urgent. Governments around the world face a range of issues such as long-term economic growth, climate change and a cost-of-living crisis. However, I believe governments have everything they need at their fingertips to solve these issues: data and collaboration between the public and private sector. Digital AI is not a passing trend or mere hype — it is a transformative force that is here to stay. If we are to harness its full potential, we must reimagine our approach in a way that yields real, tangible progress towards growth. Moreover, with the emphasis of innovation extending beyond the technology horizon, our focus should be human-centric, considering citizens and employees in all aspects, and ensuring that it enhances their lives. In this digital age, trust is a crucial element, particularly for the growth of governments and businesses. People want a single source of truth. By building reliable and transparent systems, we can build a stronger, more confident society that is ready to embrace digital transformation. ❔ How can we utilise artificial intelligence (AI) to reduce inequality and boost social mobility? Join our free virtual webinar as part of Digital Leaders Week as we answer this important question on the 16th of October 2024, 2pm 👉 https://lnkd.in/e4gaFC-A Across the UK, many young people growing up in poverty are denied the training, knowledge and networks needed to thrive in the workplace. With AI redefining the future of work, we need to recognise the opportunities and threats AI poses for young people from low-income backgrounds, the great work already being done to maximize AI’s potential benefits, the gaps yet to be filled, and most importantly, how to fill them. We’ll be joined by experts across tech and social mobility to hear their viewpoints: Adrian Joseph OBE is a board member, public speaker and AI advisor who brings his insights as an Expert Member of the UK AI Council, having advised on the national AI strategy. In his capacity as a Non-Executive Director, he has served on the UK government's Home Office Board, the Cabinet Office People Board, and on the Board of Business in the Community, where he chaired the Race Equality Board for five years. Nimmi Patel is the Head of Skills, Talent and Diversity at techUK where she works on all things skills, education, and future of work policy, focusing on upskilling and retraining. She is also an Advisory Board member of Digital Futures at Work Research Centre (Digit) which aims to increase understanding of how digital technologies are changing work and the implications for employers, workers, job seekers and governments. John Walker is a University Student and EY Foundation Youth Advisory Board Member, currently sitting as our Digital Representative on the YAB, who is passionate about technology and improving social mobility in the UK. Lynne Peabody, EY Foundation CEO, brings with her over 15 years of experience in social change and sustainability where she has developed award winning community programmes, sustainability initiatives and NGO partnerships with companies as diverse as Hogan Lovells and Kuoni. We look forward to seeing you there! #DigitalLeaders #AI #FutureTech #Innovation #DLWeek

In the global South, many developing nations are facing significant challenges and opportunities when it comes to embracing the potential of AI and advanced technologies. According to data from the World Bank, approximately two-thirds of the world’s 1.7 billion unbanked adults reside in the global South, presenting a significant opportunity for AI to drive financial inclusion and economic growth. Additionally, the International Labour Organization (ILO) reports that a substantial portion of the global South’s workforce is engaged in the informal economy, indicating a need for innovative solutions to support and formalize these workers. https://lnkd.in/esDkyhkh

“I can’t tell you the power of being intentional” - Bertie Tonks (FCIPD) Loved this thought from the host of the CHRO CLO UK Summit in London. It’s true for anything we do - from setting ourselves personal goals to how we think about implementing change at work. Bertie was the chair for the Opening Keynote panel called “AI and Humans Collaborating: Navigating the Future of Human Resource”. I had the pleasure of joining the panel alongside the brilliant panellists: Anouski Roberts, Marjoleine Hulshof MA, and Annisha Taylor. It was a broad ranging talk where, as you can imagine, people - and the impact on people - was the heart of our discussion. Themes from the session when thinking about AI’s use within HR - and across organisations - included: - How strong is your risk and governance framework? There’s legislation out there, like the EU Artificial Intelligence Act that’s been created to safeguard people. - How are you mitigating any bias AI may have? AI is only as good the data it’s fed. How diverse are those feeding it? - Look for the opportunities AI can present to free up people to concentrate on ‘high-level’ work and how that gives opportunity to skill up workforces. My key takeaway from the panel was that there’s a lot of challenge and opportunity. Through sharing our experiences we can help each other to ensure the best outcome possible for all. Together We Can!
