We are thrilled to announce that Cancer Research UK has been named the most loved charity brand of 2024, according to Savanta's BrandVue report. This is a testament to the impact of our unwavering commitment to beating cancer and our refreshed brand. The results are based on 60,000 interviews conducted over the past year through Savanta’s BrandVue study, which tracks sentiment towards approximately 120 brands. Brand Love is determined by the percentage of people stating that they 'love' a brand, based on a seven-point scale ranging from love to hate, with an additional option for those unfamiliar with the brand. Data from BrandVue Charities reveals that 43% of the UK say they have friends or family impacted by cancer. It is unsurprising then that this year’s rankings highlight the continued dominance of healthcare charities. Cancer has impacted each of us, whether through a loved one, family member, or friend. Having witnessed it firsthand, I understand the immense struggle involved in fighting it head-on—it's far from easy. In the UK, research shows that "1 in 2 people will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime"—that’s half the population. Shockingly, "every two minutes, someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer." Having seen the devastating effects of this disease, I’ve decided to take action. Throughout October, I’ll be completing 100 skips a day to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. The goal is to support groundbreaking research that leads to faster detection, more effective treatments, and better prevention strategies. The biggest challenge with cancer is its uncertainty—no one knows the root cause, and treatments are often broad and uncertain. This "wait and see" approach is incredibly stressful for patients and their families. We need better answers, and that’s why I’m asking for your support. Today is the official date for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea 2024. It is an event that is run by Cancer Council Australia, it helps to raise funds and to empower Australians to reduce their cancer risk by funding world-leading prevention campaigns. This includes encouraging participation in cancer screening programs and providing education on healthy lifestyle choices through programs like SunSmart. Cancer Council is the largest non-government funder of cancer research in the country, and thanks to the generosity of supporters, they have been able to invest almost $250 million in Australian cancer research in the past 5 years alone. Investment in research has helped increase cancer survival rates from 49% in the 1980s to 69% today. Because of research, more people are surviving cancer than ever before.
