Anyone who knows me well knows how important my role as a Trustee and Vice-Chair is to me. I have been involved in school governance for 15 years and have been a Trustee in a Multi Academy Trust for three years and I can honestly say that it some of the most meaningful work that I have ever done. Did you know that school governors and trustees make up one of the biggest volunteer workforces in the UK? Over a quarter of a million people are making a difference in their communities and improving the lives of children and young people by giving their time as a governor or trustee. Being involved in school governance is one of the most rewarding ways in which I have been able to give something back to society and play a part in my local community at the same time as developing my professional skills and gaining valuable experience in strategic leadership. You don’t have to be an expert in education or a parent or have any special skills to become a governor. What you do need is enthusiasm for improving outcomes for children, the inquisitiveness to question and analyse and a willingness to learn and get involved If you are looking for a meaningful and impactful volunteer role, I would wholeheartedly recommend becoming a school governor or trustee so you can help to improve opportunities for children and young people in your community. #governorsforachools #schoolgovernors #trustees #makeadifference #volunteer
We believe that academy trustees are amazing 🌟 That's why this #VolunteersWeek we're celebrating this group of volunteers by highlighting the vital impact they make in education. 📖 Find out more about the impact academy trustees make https://bit.ly/3UZvjN5

How does your organization empower marginalized communities? At the Assistance League of Los Angeles we are deeply committed to empowering marginalized communities through a variety of impactful programs and initiatives. Our mission is to improve the quality of the lives of at-risk children and families in our community through philanthropy, dedicated service and compassionate programs. ✔️Operation School Bell®: We provide new clothing, shoes, and school supplies to underserved children, ensuring they have the essentials to succeed academically and socially. ✔️Foster Children’s Resource Center: This initiative offers clothing, school supplies, and hygiene kits to children in the foster care system. By addressing these basic needs, we help foster children feel more secure and supported. ✔️Theatre for Children: We offer free live performances to thousands of children from low-income families, many of whom have never experienced live theatre before. This exposure to the arts enhances their creativity and cultural awareness. ✔️Preschool Learning Center: Our accredited preschool provides quality early childhood education to children from low-income families. We focus on preparing these young learners for kindergarten and setting a strong foundation for their future academic success. Through these programs and more, we are dedicated to making a tangible difference in the lives of marginalized individuals and communities. We are proud to have served more than a million children and families since our inception, and believe that by addressing both immediate needs and long-term development, we can create a more equitable and inclusive society. 😍 #AssistLAtogether #CommunitySupport #AssistanceLeagueLA #MakingADifference

🎒 Did you know that 4 in 5 children who are not ready for kindergarten continue to struggle academically in third grade? And did you know that according to Alameda County parents and caregivers only 33% of children were fully ready for kindergarten in 2022? 📈Explore our Data for Action guide in our NEW Annual Report, which informs programming, investment, and policy advocacy for First 5, community-based organizations, and other public agencies, and can provide key context, like the community conditions impeding children’s kindergarten readiness, for local leaders and decision-makers: https://bit.ly/3ZCBWZ0
