Our recent poll asked UK adults whether they would turn to private healthcare to help a relative on an NHS waiting list. Most said they would (14% definitely and 31% probably), with only 11% ruling it out entirely. A further 26% said they probably wouldn't use it, with 18% saying they didn't know. #mytribepoll #ukhealthdebate #privatevspublichealth #nhswaitinglists #healthcarechoices #ukpollresults #sunakvsstarmer #healthcarecrisisuk #affordablehealthcareuk #publicopinionhealth

I have a lot of love for the NHS. Didn’t expect to read that from someone in the private healthcare space? It’s true – it’s an incredible institution that’s benefited a countless number of people in its 76 year history, including my family. But let’s be honest – it’s now creaking at the seams due to a number of reasons, including an ageing population, under-funding and playing catch-up after Covid. The following stats don’t make for easy reading: ⚠️ 7.57 million cases on the waiting list ⚠️ 3.14 million have experienced a wait of over 18 weeks ⚠️ Nearly 249,300 have been waiting over a year for treatment (Source - https://lnkd.in/e_V9TZfV - correct as of 18/11/24) I speak from personal experience that private healthcare has been a huge crutch for my family – allowing us access to appointments and treatments that could have worsened our conditions, and certainly would not have allowed for peace of mind had they been left much longer. Whilst I do believe the NHS can improve in time and with the right management, private healthcare is an integral support system in the meantime. #nhs #pmi #privatehealthcare #healthinsurance

The #LondonCareRecord was used almost 2.5 million times during October which is a new monthly record!! It is great news that both Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust and Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust are now securely sharing patient information across the Capital via this vital tool. This is helping to ensure that frontline staff who are treating their patients in other settings have the information they need at the point of care. Thanks to the teams at both Trusts for their work to make this happen. You can read more here: https://bit.ly/4icyxro

This is an interesting article about wound care. Did you know that wound care is the third most expensive care sector in England? The NHS spends £8.3 billion per annum on this type of care. Given the nature of the human condition and health and wellbeing, wounds are a common type of complaint that patients report to a doctor or other clinicians seeking advice or treatment. As such, there are national strategies and guidelines for how NHS trusts and health boards should operate to handle these kinds of ailments to ensure proper resolution and no unnecessary burden to the NHS.
