National Energy Conservation Day is a great reminder that every small step toward energy efficiency can have a lasting impact. As winter sets in, it’s the perfect time to think about eco-friendly ways to protect our environment. Here are a few of our favorite winter conservation tips to help you make a difference this season: ❄️ Minimize Salt Use: Try sand or eco-friendly de-icers, and focus on shoveling early to prevent ice buildup! 🔥 Energy-Efficient Heating: Lower thermostat settings, use programmable thermostats, and seal drafts to reduce heat loss around windows and doors. 🌬️ Indoor Air Quality: Winter often means closed windows, so add air-purifying plants or change filters to keep indoor air fresh. 💡 Smart Energy Use: Switch to LED bulbs, and use smart power strips to reduce energy consumption when devices are not in use. Small changes can make a big impact! Let’s work together for a more sustainable, energy-efficient winter season. At B+T, we’re committed to designing sustainable, energy-smart solutions in all our projects. Let’s take steps together for a greener, more sustainable future! 🌍 #BealsAndThomas #WinterConservation #EcoFriendlyTips

Air conditioning causes around 3% of greenhouse gas emissions. How will this change in the future? Demand is set to triple by 2050. Can it be met in an energy-efficient way? Summary: Rising Demand and Impact Air conditioning (AC) is essential for comfort and reducing heat mortality. With global temperatures rising and incomes increasing in low-to-middle-income countries, AC demand is projected to triple by 2050, increasing the number of units from 2 billion to over 5.5 billion. Currently, AC accounts for 7% of global electricity use and contributes 3.2% of total greenhouse gas emissions. Efficiency Potential Meeting future AC demand efficiently is crucial. Adopting existing high-efficiency AC units could reduce projected energy use by 45%, potentially doubling rather than tripling electricity demand by 2050. Challenges Labeling and Standards: Clear efficiency labels and stringent standards are needed to guide consumer choices. Cost: High upfront costs of efficient units hinder adoption. Financial incentives like tax reductions or subsidies can help. Solutions Policy Improvements: Implement consistent labeling and efficiency standards. Financial Incentives: Subsidize high-efficiency units to make them affordable. Urban Design: Incorporate heat-reducing designs in buildings and cities to lower AC demand. Conclusion Increasing AC demand can be met sustainably through efficient technologies, supportive policies, and smart urban design, minimizing energy consumption and emissions. #AirConditioning #EnergyEfficiency #ClimateChange #SustainableCooling #GreenhouseGasEmissions #UrbanDesign #SmartCities #ClimateAction #RenewableEnergy #NetZero2050

On #EarthDay 2024 let’s think about the changes we can make to create a greener world. So far Klick has made significant improvements, including installing PIR LED lights and a monitoring/heating control system in the warehouse, plus phasing out our radiant heaters. We have established a baseline for 2020/2021 and measured, verified and reduced carbon emissions for scope 1, 2 and operational 3. We are pleased that in 2023 we achieved a 5.23% TOTAL CARBON REDUCTION from the previous year. The insights and recommendations from our recent Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) Report will continue to shape our roadmap to Net Zero. It is our long-term goal is to achieve operational #NetZero by 2038 which is aligned to #Manchester City Council and Science Based Targets. Reducing energy consumption in buildings is crucial for fighting climate change, as buildings are a major source of greenhouse gas emissions. Recognizing this, several innovators and incumbents in the window business are focused on solutions for commercial buildings and new construction. On the other hand, Mado Dynamic is razor-focused on creating easy install, affordable solutions, easy-to-retrofit as window coverings on traditional household windows. A Rocky Mountain Institute study concluded that installation and use of dynamic shades can generate savings of up to 34% for cooling and 11% for heating on existing homes. What are dynamic shades? They are shades that respond dynamically to the weather conditions to keep your home comfortable day and night like in this video. At Mado Dynamic, our belief that something as simple as replacing every window covering with dynamic shades could mitigate more than 5% of global CO2 emissions is driving us to create the simplest and most affordable dynamic shade ever.
