People living in Medway and Swale are being encouraged to sign up and become Research Friends of Medway NHS Foundation Trust. Laura Adams, Patient and Public Engagement and Involvement (PPIE) facilitator for Research and Innovation, said: “Evidence shows that research active trusts, like Medway NHS Foundation Trust, deliver a higher quality of care to their patients. That’s because through research we can offer treatments that otherwise would not be available and ensure we are offering the most up-to-date treatments to patients. “We want to place research at the heart of everything we do. Without research we would be blind within healthcare as we wouldn’t know how to treat new diseases and viruses or the long term effects on people, but importantly we cannot carry out research without patient involvement." “By launching Research Friends we hope it will spark an interest in people living in Medway and Swale to find out more and get involved with research at the Trust in as many ways as possible - whether that is taking part in a study, sharing results with friends and family, guiding study design or influencing the future of research at Medway.” Find out how to sign up: https://lnkd.in/ehkVxWwh #bestofcare #bestofpeople #Medway #Swale #research Medway NHSFT Research and Innovation Team

Advocate Aurora Health Trinity Hospital became the 2nd Advocate site to perform the innovative DETOUR/PTAB System!! This patient was referred to Jaafer Golzar MD FACC FSCAI and The Trinity Hospital Limb Salvage Program as his last hope before a 2nd limb amputation. Yesterday, the Cath Lab team, led by Dr Golzar, gave him another shot towards preserving his independence and improving his quality of life! He was able to go home the same day too! Upon his discharge home, the patient told us he felt renewed and hopeful!! (Where is the tissue sniff.. sniff!) This is what health equity looks like. This is what making a difference, clinical excellence and strong work looks like. This is what saving lives, legs and toes looks like!! Annd honestly… it feels so good to do this work! Thank you Kym McNicholas from the The Way To My Heart Foundation and Ian Swanson from Endologix LLC for the excellent collaboration and strong team spirit!!! On to the next one!! Staff and patients are benefiting from cutting-edge technology at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, where an average 10,000 interventional procedures are performed within the general interventional suites themselves. The Heartlands Treatment Centre (HTC) opened in January 2023 and features multiple Philips systems, including two Azurions with FlexArm. Following the service improvements seen in HTC, two further Philips Azurions were installed at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham within the last twelve months. Both of these projects have replaced older technologies, improving patient diagnostics and treatments whilst supporting multiple clinical teams to work seamlessly during interventional procedures. #healthcare #partnerships #NHS

Proving a system designed with broad equity in mind, spanning lingual, economic, and technical gaps, can help Hospitals better deliver on both their ethical and operational goals. This is a great discussion on what that looks like with Chief Digital Officer Omkar Kulkarni, MPH from Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA).
Vital.io's SVP of Client Success, Joe Sedlak MBA, RN BSN shares takeaways from his presentation at The Beryl Institute's #ELEVATEPX conference featuring Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). The EMF Effect: Inspiring insights from Dr Michelle Dodds and Natasha Edwards from Redcliffe Hospital Emergency Department on their research into developing a paediatric peripheral intravenous cannulation package. Funded by an EMF Emerge grant, the project aimed to enhance the procedure for inserting intravenous cannulas in children under 16, which often causes anxiety for patients and families. The research team developed evidence-based resources, including a bedside guide and an education package, to boost clinician confidence and standardise practices. The implementation of these resources resulted in improved patient experiences, reduced clinician anxiety, and enhanced workflow efficiency. These resources have been successfully integrated into various departments at Redcliffe Hospital and have also been adopted at many sites in Queensland. Future plans include expanding the resources for broader applications in both paediatric and adult care, focusing on skills that alleviate patient anxiety during various medical procedures. To learn more about this study or explore additional EMF grant highlights, check out our 2023-2024 Annual Report here: https://lnkd.in/eFyrYkCY #EMFResearch #EMFEffect #EmergencyMedicine #EMFAnnualReport Metro North Health
