People living in Medway and Swale are being encouraged to sign up and become Research Friends of Medway NHS Foundation Trust. Laura Adams, Patient and Public Engagement and Involvement (PPIE) facilitator for Research and Innovation, said: “Evidence shows that research active trusts, like Medway NHS Foundation Trust, deliver a higher quality of care to their patients. That’s because through research we can offer treatments that otherwise would not be available and ensure we are offering the most up-to-date treatments to patients. “We want to place research at the heart of everything we do. Without research we would be blind within healthcare as we wouldn’t know how to treat new diseases and viruses or the long term effects on people, but importantly we cannot carry out research without patient involvement." “By launching Research Friends we hope it will spark an interest in people living in Medway and Swale to find out more and get involved with research at the Trust in as many ways as possible - whether that is taking part in a study, sharing results with friends and family, guiding study design or influencing the future of research at Medway.” Find out how to sign up: https://lnkd.in/ehkVxWwh #bestofcare #bestofpeople #Medway #Swale #research Medway NHSFT Research and Innovation Team

Proving a system designed with broad equity in mind, spanning lingual, economic, and technical gaps, can help Hospitals better deliver on both their ethical and operational goals. This is a great discussion on what that looks like with Chief Digital Officer Omkar Kulkarni, MPH from Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA).

🚀 Thrilled to share some amazing news! Our work with Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust has been featured in HFMA - a fantastic recognition of the work we’re doing together. We’ve been running a pilot at MSE to reduce DNAs (Did Not Attend) across 11 specialties, and the results show; ✅ an 18.8% reduction in DNAs - and it’s improving week on week. ✅ 4.3x greater patient engagement with text messages compared to traditional two-way communication. In the UK, 12 million appointments are missed, or cancelled under short notice. If we rolled out nationally this could equate to 2.25million missed appointments being filled. As the article says, ‘One of health secretary Wes Streeting’s most pressing tasks is to bring down NHS waiting lists. There’s something stirring in Mid and South Essex that could be a vital tool in winning that battle.’ 🙏 Huge thanks to the amazing team at MSE including Tony Young and Erica White. These results show the potential of partnering with a forward-thinking Trust that’s embracing innovation. PS Check out P18 onwards for the article about Deep Medical.

Earlier this week, we had the pleasure of joining the digital consent and health inequalities demo day at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust to celebrate an exciting collaboration tasked with enhancing the digital consent process. Our CEO and Co-founder Rachael Grimaldi reflects on the project, which involved a unique collaboration between UHCW clinical and operational staff and Concentric Health, Remcare, VirtTuri and Eviden. The 3-month initiative saw partners work together to develop digital solutions to help patients consent to care and treatment without communication barriers. With thanks to Dr Penny Kechagioglou, UHCW, University of Warwick Dafydd Loughran and the many other people involved in making this project such a success! This West Midlands Health and Wellbeing Innovation Network (WMHWIN) programme was supported by the West Midlands Health Tech Innovation Accelerator - WMHTIA.

Advocate Aurora Health Trinity Hospital became the 2nd Advocate site to perform the innovative DETOUR/PTAB System!! This patient was referred to Jaafer Golzar MD FACC FSCAI and The Trinity Hospital Limb Salvage Program as his last hope before a 2nd limb amputation. We know that primary health care care is one of the only parts of the health system in which investments routinely and predictably result in improved equity for all people, especially the most vulnerable. But under fee-for-service payment, the value of clinical work = time and intensity. This leaves behind - Patient relationships - Team-based care - Care coordination - Time for diagnosis These are precisely the things that make #PrimaryCare so powerful. In his presentation, Asaf Bitton discussed strategies for aligning payment with the value #PrimaryCare provides.

📢 Proud moment for GrandCoeur at #EUSEM2024! We're thrilled to present our first clinical observational study: "Evaluation of GrandCoeur home monitoring system after emergency department discharge." Delivered in Copenhagen by Dr. Ali Afdjei and Prof. Bruno Megarbane, the findings show just how transformative GrandCoeur's support is for patients: ➡️ 38% of patients felt GrandCoeur helped them avoid re-hospitalization. ➡️ 65% reduction in anxiety levels post-discharge. ➡️ 95% satisfaction rate among patients. This impact is why #GrandCoeur exists. We’re on a mission to support and reassure more patients after their emergency visits, providing meaningful follow-up care at home. Grateful to everyone who contributed to this milestone and excited to expand our reach and impact. Let's keep pushing boundaries to improve patient care! #PatientCare #HealthcareInnovation #EmergencyMedicine #GrandCoeur 💙 💚 🩵
