In 2005, the Texas state legislature created OIEC to be an independent agency from TDI’s DWC. OIEC helps injured workers who have a dispute with their workers’ compensation claim. An October 2023 decision of the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission highlights the important things to be considered when dependants of a deceased worker are considering applying for worker’s compensation dependency benefits.
