Today 1 August 2024 is the start of Women's Month in South Africa. The theme for this year is " Celebrating 30 Years of Democracy Towards Women's Development." While we celebrate milestones achieved over the last 30 years, we must continue to intentionally work towards dismantling institutional barriers that impede gender transformation in the workplace. Over and above our progressive legislative framework, the call is to all in leadership positions to walk the talk. Access to opportunities, adequate support and a conducive working environment should be standard. #HappyWomensmonth #Gendertransformation #Womendevelopment

Join us for this interesting conversation about Women's Advancement and Leadership. I will share RISE's research findings and approach to advance women in garment supply chains. 🚨Spoiler alert: advancement shouldn't be narrowed to supervisory opportunities on the factory floor, conversely, it is about creating new alternative pathways that fit women's needs and aspirations to complement traditional career progression journeys. 🌍✨ It's fascinating to learn that peace agreements are 35% more likely to endure for 15 years when women participate in the negotiating process. This underscores the vital role women play in building lasting peace. 🤝🕊️ Supporting women's involvement in these discussions goes beyond the pursuit of equality; it's a critical component for effective outcomes. By fostering inclusive and safe environments, we can develop solutions that are more robust and enduring. The article below from UN Women serves as a powerful reminder of how much work remains to ensure women have equal footing in important aspects of our political landscape. 🌏❤️ #WomenInLeadership #PeaceBuilding #DiversityMatters #Inclusion #SustainablePeace #womenempowerment #equality Source: https://lnkd.in/dHWNgxWs

📢 The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and UN Women Europe and Central Asia are convening a regional review meeting at United Nations Office at Geneva on 📅 21-22 October 2024 to deliberate in priorities needed to accelerate #GenderEquality. In the last five years, repeated shocks have rocked the world, from the COVID-19 pandemic to energy and financial crises, from the escalating climate emergency to eruptions of armed conflict and geopolitical tensions. These crises disproportionately affect #women and #girls, exacerbating existing inequalities. At the same time, the rise in authoritarian regimes and anti-rights movements is threatening the progress made and endangering women's rights activists. During high-level roundtables, ministers, senior officials, and representatives from relevant ministries, United Nations entities, regional institutions and organizations, civil society organizations, youth organizations, academia, independent experts, and other stakeholders from 56 countries in the UNECE region will deliberate on priorities related to gender equality and women’s empowerment, including: ☑️ Accelerating women’s #economic empowerment; ☑️ Women in #leadership and their full and equal participation in decision-making; ☑️ Ending violence against women and girls; ☑️ Leveraging financing for gender equality; ☑️ Closing the #gender gap: effective policies to deliver on #SDGs in the UNECE region. 🔎 Learn more ▶️ https://lnkd.in/dqQ_NpUv 🔔 Register 👉 https://lnkd.in/dS4qan9c Tatiana Molcean Dmitry Mariyasin Nyaradzayi Gumbonzvanda Martin Chungong Belen Sanz Luque Beate Andrees Ekin Deligöz Roya Garayeva Asel Kubanychbekova Tea Jaliashvili European Women's Lobby Nabeelah Shabbir Nicole Ameline IDLO - International Development Law Organization GQUAL Campaign Inter-Parliamentary Union Pille Tsopp-Pagan Colette FRY Branislava Aradjan Xeniya Udod Selma Prodanovic🎤 Marija Savovska Ruth Zugman do Coutto Yolanda Iriarte Victoria Puiu Jose Palacin Ilinca Paladi Natalija Ostojić
