What to do with existing buildings ? Buildings that have been built in the past loose their capacities over time, the materials wear out and the requirements of their users change. However taking them down completely is not a good environmental choice. Good design can help to revitalise an existing building structure and form a successful new building which incorporates its past. Architects can help to realise such a project and safeguard the interests of owners and future users. Image: Solararchitekt, Düsseldorf 2024 #existingbuildings #retrofit #refurbishment #architecture

Works have commenced on site for a full refurbishment as well as ground, first and second floor extensions to a mid-terrace home in Stoke Newington. A host of issues discovered during the design and exploration stages meant that works have ended being more structurally rigorous than initially planned and a lot of the design decisions have been dictated by the site conditions. In this project more than most form follows function and a structural reason is present behind every design move or material. Looking forward to sharing more in coming months and having this realised by the end of the year. #architecture #architect #residentialarchitecture #architecturaldesign #dontmoveimprove #rearextension #refurbishment #kitchenextension #loftextension #scandinaviandesign #scandinavianstyle #architecturelovers #interiordesign #victorianextension #londonarchitects #londonarchitect #londonarchitecture #northlondonarchitects #northlondonhomes #londonhomes #londonrenovation #hackneyhomes #hackneyarchitect #hackneyarchitects #residentialarchitect #londoninteriors #interiorinspo #london #hackney #stokenewington

A 3D-printed building - yes or no? This type of house is a product of technology, a direct contrast to traditional houses whose walls are built by masons. While they're cost-effective, they are easy to set up and can be completed in a shorter time than conventional houses. If you're to choose between conventional building and 3D-printed building, which one would you prefer? #realestate #buildingconstruction #architecture #buildingconsultation

🌿 🌿 If you have to convince someone that you’ve made the right choice in including it in a building plan, some background information may help. How do you justify using one stone rather than another? And what makes the natural approach better than other popular options such as concrete? 🌿 🌿 #design #stone #construction #residential #architecture #interiordesign

Affordable Housing: The most significant modular construction, a high rise building by HTA architects. Remarkably efficient, 28 months on site, with each module fitted in and craned. Incredibly, 50 stories tall. All homes were I stalled in ten months! College Road is a remarkable feat of modern architecture and construction. It is one of the most significant offsite manufactured buildings ever realised at 50 storeys tall using 1,680 modules. The uniqueness of this building lies in the fact that each module has been customized according to the site’s complex shape and height, to ensure the most efficient use of steel as the load changes to each floor of the building
