🎉 Slogan Competition | Youth Day 🎉 I had the incredible opportunity to participate in the “National Youth Day Celebration - 2022 - Slogan Competition,” which was thoughtfully organized by the Library, Reader’s Club, and NDLI Club of KSRCT. 📝✨ 🏆 My Winning Slogan: “Empowering Minds, Igniting Change!” 🔥💡 🤓 Crafting this impactful slogan was an exhilarating experience. Let me share the deeper meaning behind each word: 🔍 Empowering Minds: This phrase encapsulates the essence of youth—our ability to learn, adapt, and grow. It’s about nurturing our minds, seeking knowledge, and embracing lifelong learning. As young individuals, we hold immense potential to create positive change. 🔍 Igniting Change: Change begins with a spark—a small idea, a bold vision, or a passionate belief. Our youth have the power to ignite transformation in society, whether through innovation, advocacy, or community service. This slogan reminds us that we are catalysts for progress. #SloganCompetition #YouthDay #CreativityUnleashed #Empowerment #NationalYouthDay

What if every community had a thriving ecosystem designed to support and amplify youth-led change? In our recent blog post, we explored the key principles behind building effective, sustainable youth service programs that empower young people to drive impact. From fostering self-belief and providing meaningful opportunities to cultivating community partnerships and establishing service hubs, these principles offer a roadmap for transforming the way we engage and empower young changemakers. Ready to dive in? Check out the series: https://lnkd.in/g7Cb3SnF By working together to implement these principles in our own communities, we can create a world where every young person has the tools, resources, and support they need to lead change and build a brighter future. - Ryan & Thomas Growney SG’24 #NewServiceAcademy Image description: Against a white background, the words "The power of self-belief in youth engagement" surround a photographic image of engaged young people. 🌱 The difference we’re making, in their words... 🌱 We’re truly humbled by this kind testimonial from a partner who shares our vision and understands our mission: "Their passion and commitment to youth work goes far beyond expectation… Their work impacted so many young people’s lives; all of whom have now gone on to do great things." This is why we do what we do - empowering young people to unlock their potential and achieve greatness 🚀💫 Want to see this kind of impact in action? It's time for my #MonthlyManifest post! This past month, I have been concentrating on an area that does not come naturally to me - networking. Getting the word out about MentorAbility Alberta is crucial to our program, and I am doing it as much and as loudly as my introverted little heart will allow. From attending events hosted by Pride at Work Canada / Fierté au travail Canada, Women's Advocacy Voice of Edmonton (WAVE) Committee, and Edmonton Community Foundation; speaking to #Accessibility advisory committees; to attending my first #Coffee with the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce - I'm so eager to share about how MentorAbility helps organizations grow their inclusive cultures with people who want to learn. There is a LOT coming up, too! I'm attending the YEG Destination tech event hosted by Edmonton Unlimited (April 24) and will be at Gateway Association Alberta's AGM (April 25) and the Mayors Summit (May 21). I'll be presenting a workshop and sponsoring a table at the Alberta Council of Disability Services annual conference (May 15 & 16), and more! If you have an event, resource fair, or speaking engagement where MentorAbility would add value or a networking event where connections can be made, please let me know! I'm in my era of saying yes, and need to maximize my opportunities from my more extroverted network of rad folks. #MentorshipsAtWork #SupportedEmployment #DiversityInclusion #YEG #YEGJobs #YEGBusiness #InclusiveHiring #DisabilityEmployment #Mentorship

After a long and grueling day, it’s messages like these that remind us why we do what we do. This incredible journey started with someone who had no confidence to make the leap and didn’t believe in her own abilities. Well not Today, Today, she’s thriving at university! We’re incredibly proud to have played a part in this transformation! #UpturnEnterprise #CommunityImpact #TeamPride #LocalNews #communitytalents #BuildingTheFuture #CommunityImpact #oldhamhour #SocialImpact #Community #loveoldham #UpturnEnterprise #OpportunitiesForAll #SocialEnterprise #Success #SocialImpact #SocialBusiness #SocialMobility #Oldham #Business #Talent #Communities #GreaterManchester #TogetherWeCanMakeADifference #education

Celebrating International Youth Day with Amaan, Our Youth Ambassador. This year, International Youth Day celebrates the incredible potential of young people as catalysts for positive change, let’s give a massive shout-out to an exceptional young leader among us – Amaan. His tale is one of true grit, personal growth, and the kind of positive influence that changes lives. Kicked out of mainstream school in Year 8, Amaan faced hurdles that could’ve knocked many off their path. But not our Amaan. He flipped his script, attending a the Springboard Project a local provision for young folk with SEMH challenges, and there he grew into a mature and responsible lad. Amaan’s journey has been proper inspiring. He’s become a rock for the younger students, leading them with a wisdom that belies his age. His drive for youth mentoring and politics is clear for all to see, and he’s dead set on leading Upturn Enterprise youth voice. In Oldham, Amaan’s more than just a name – he’s a beacon of hope. His own experiences give him a unique perspective on the issues our youth face, especially when it comes to antisocial behaviour. He’s not just seen it; he’s lived it and come out stronger. Down at the KFC where he works, Amaan deals with trouble with a cool head and effective manner. His ideas for knocking antisocial behaviour on the head are clever and come from a place of real experience. As he steps up to lead Upturn Enterprise’s youth voice, Amaan’s ready to be a force for good change. His dedication to representing and guiding his mates is a credit to him and a sign of the brighter future he’s helping to forge for Oldham. #InternationalYouthDay #YouthAmbassador #Oldhamhour #YouthEmpowerment #SocialEnterprise #SocialMobility #GreaterManchester #Oldham #Rochdale #Business #Employability #SocialImpact #GrowTodayForTomorrow #youthdevelopment #youthemployment #togtherwecan #Empowerment #YouthOpportunities #GreaterManchester #BusinessGrowth #CareerDevelopment #CommunityImpact #InvestInYouth

Why does youth engagement matter? Glimmer’s Youth Engagement Best Practices framework is evidence-based, meaning it is based on research with young people and those working with young people. In future posts, we’ll highlight each best practice. For now, we want to share why youth engagement matters, based on what our research participants said. There are many reasons why youth engagement matters, but our research participants highlighted 5 important points. #1 Youth engagement opportunities create space for young people to gain skills and knowledge that support them in creating thriving communities for themselves and others. These experiences also equip them to take on the future leadership of our organizations, institutions, and communities. #2 Youth engagement opportunities remind young people that they have power and agency. Engagement also allows young people to empathize with one another and build relationships based on shared experiences and create social support. #3 Youth engagement opportunities help prepare young people for life after high school, including civic responsibilities and continuing education. #4 Youth engagement opportunities allow young people to connect with others and gain greater understanding of their communities. Youth engagement can foster a stronger sense of belonging to the broader community and encourages young people to give back to the community in various ways. #5 Youth engagement opportunities support young people in acknowledging issues that are impacting them and develop ways to address these issues.

As we embark on a new Rotary year, I am excited to serve as the District Director for Youth Avenue for 2024-25. Our shared commitment to community service and youth development is more important than ever. To amplify the impact of our youth-focused initiatives, collaboration among Rotary members, NGOs, institutions, and professionals is crucial. Key Initiatives and Their Impact: Interact Clubs: These clubs, established in high schools, empower students to lead community service projects and develop leadership skills. They are instrumental in fostering a sense of global citizenship and responsibility. Rotaract Clubs: Targeted at young adults aged 18-30, Rotaract Clubs provide a platform for leadership and service. They engage members in professional development and community service, bridging the gap between high school and adult Rotary involvement. Youth Exchange Programs: These programs offer young people the opportunity to experience different cultures, fostering international understanding and personal growth. They play a pivotal role in building global leaders and ambassadors for peace. How You Can Contribute: Share Your Ideas and Insights: Your unique perspectives and experiences are invaluable. We encourage you to bring forward innovative ideas and projects that can enhance our engagement with youth. Collaborate with NGOs and Institutions: Partnering with organizations that share our goals can significantly strengthen our youth programs. If you have connections or can facilitate partnerships, your efforts will be greatly appreciated. Engage with Professionals: Professionals in various fields can offer mentorship, workshops, and resources. Engaging with these experts will enrich our programs and provide valuable learning opportunities for our youth. Support and Advocate: Advocate for youth initiatives within your communities and networks. Your support can mobilize additional resources and create a wider impact. Let’s Unite for a Brighter Future: Together, we can shape a brighter future by positively impacting the lives of our youth. By leveraging our collective resources and expertise, we can make a significant difference in our society and our country. I look forward to working with each of you to achieve our shared vision of empowering young individuals and making a lasting impact. #YouthDevelopment #CommunityService #RotaryClubs
