A New Zealand-Danish consortium, the Taranaki Offshore Partnership (TOP), has reaffirmed its commitment to a $5 billion offshore wind farm project off the rugged west coast of Waikato. While TOP, a joint venture between the NZ Super Fund and Danish wind energy experts Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, is still exploring the Waikato region, it's also considering South Taranaki as a potential site. The consortium is drawn to Waikato's proximity to the electricity grid and major energy consumers like Auckland. Meanwhile, Australian company Oceanex Energy remains interested in developing an offshore wind farm in the Waikato region as part of its broader plan for up to three such projects in New Zealand. These agreements, part of New York's fourth offshore wind solicitation, include commitments of $32 million for community investments and $16.5 million for wildlife and fisheries monitoring. 🌬️ The developers submitted new bids for the offshore wind projects in the recent solicitation to ensure their availability, considering the altered global economic landscape and shifts in the offshore wind market since the original ORECs were granted. OW Ocean Winds and partner Banque des Territoires have secured their 250MW Eoliennes Flottantes d’Occitanie floating offshore wind farm in France’s AO6 tender.

Wambo 2 Wind Farm Project Win We’re thrilled to announce our latest project win with Vestas Australia Wind Technology and their client’s Cubico Sustainable Investments and Stanwell Corporation Limited. Together, we’re gearing up to make some serious strides in sustainable energy with the Wambo 2 Wind Farm project. At Bielby, we’re not just about construction; we’re about making a positive impact. That’s why we’re excited to dive into this project. Here’s what we’re up to: - Constructing 40km of access track, to facilitate windfarm component deliveries;  - Constructing 41 hardstands for Wind Turbine Generators;  - Building 41 Turbine gravity foundations;  - Upgrading a 5km stretch of public road;  - Creating 9 site entrances; and  - Constructing a Windfarm Substation Bench. This project underscores our commitment to the Renewables industry and our ongoing efforts to drive sustainable solutions for our communities. Discussing the lessons learned from the Empire Wind 1 project in New York with project partners COWI, Equinor and the Global Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA). A project that has potential to power 1 million New York homes making it a cornerstone of offshore wind in US. We explored lessons learned in a global context as well as the great potential for more offshore wind worldwide. All speakers highlighted the importance of engaging local stakeholders and communities especially within fishing industries. Lack off coexistence between communities and energy providers has been an important obstacle for moving forward quicker with the Empire Wind 1 project as the local communities felt left out. For that reason future projects should be focused on involving them from the beginning while ensuring a local supply chain to create local jobs and to give communities a feeling of ownership. Permitting and affordability have also been key concerns. Lessons will prove tremendously valuable in the future buildout of renewable energy capacities. #dkbiz #dkgreen

Offshore Wind….Local Content!! I applaud the local content this is a huge step forward… I am a supporter and advocate for 100% Local content to be the GOAL always. ?….and what a way to start…..Awesome!!!! Just like Net Zero, Zero safety incident, Zero quality defects etc which are driven by policy and working documents to support achieving these goals. We also need strategic and tactical plans, policy and working document’s to achieve 100% local content.? Realistically like a RISK register if we list out and are transparent: 💚- GREEN - we can make it locally? 🧡- AMBER - could be built locally but automation and standardization and some investment is needed now to turn them to GREEN…£££ ? ❤️ - RED - not possible to build currently (COST should not be the driver if it is we need to revisit AMBER and mitigate from there)? - reason I say cost, is it better the money flowing, even if a little high locally be better than sending work to high value/cheap labor countries for supply, where local content communities and countries receiving these goods don’t see the cash flowing benefits in their communities and the associated benefits? We need a plan to bring that work back and put plans in place £££ (annual rolling tactical plan based on a strategy), to reach 100% local content over GIG scale execution.? Govt and industry need to work together to make this happen.? Am I out in left field with this? Does this seem reasonable? Do you think this is achievable?

Together with our development partners Equinor, we have established commercial terms with The Crown Estate around an amendment to the existing Dogger Bank C seabed lease for the proposed Dogger Bank D fourth phase of Dogger Bank Wind Farm. This is subject to the outcome of the plan-Level Habitats Regulation Assessment (HRA) associated with The Crown Estate’s wider Capacity Improvement Programme. 🌊 Dogger Bank D has a potential capacity of up to 2GW of new renewable energy for the UK energy system, which would be generated from maximising the capacity of the eastern portion of the Dogger Bank C seabed lease area. 🚀 Exciting News: ABP & Sarens Partner for Offshore Wind! 🌊 Associated British Ports (ABP) has announced a strategic collaboration with heavy lift provider Sarens to accelerate the deployment of floating offshore wind (FLOW) from Port Talbot. This partnership aims to unlock the immense potential of FLOW opportunities in the Celtic Sea and marks a significant milestone in their Future Port Talbot programme. The Crown Estate's Celtic Sea Blueprint, announced in February 2024, aims for 4.5GW of FLOW, potentially creating up to 5,400 jobs and adding £1.4bn to the economy. With Sarens' extensive global experience—spanning the USA, Europe, Taiwan, and South Korea—this partnership is set to elevate the UK's position in the green energy sector. ABP plans to invest over £500M in new and repurposed infrastructure at Port Talbot, promising thousands of new high-quality jobs and attracting substantial inward investment. I believe this collaboration will immensely benefit our local supply chain by leveraging regional knowledge and skills. It underscores both companies' commitment to global offshore wind projects.
