💡 DID YOU KNOW? FUN FACTS ABOUT KEY ACCOUNT MANAGERS 💡 🤔 The term "key account" was first coined in the early 1980s to describe high-value customers that require special attention and care. 💶 KAMs often have a higher salary than traditional sales representatives due to the increased responsibility and strategic importance of their role. 🤝 The average Key Account Manager spends around 30% of their time in face-to-face meetings with clients. This highlights the importance of strong interpersonal skills. 🌍 Many KAMs have a background in sales or marketing. However, experience in customer service or account management can also be beneficial. 📇 The role of a KAM can evolve over time. As a company grows and the needs of its clients change, the responsibilities of a KAM may also expand. ✈ KAMs often have the opportunity to travel to meet with clients, attend industry events, and participate in training programs. 🥇 A successful KAM can have a significant impact on a company's bottom line. By building strong relationships with key clients and driving revenue, ☘ KAMs can contribute to the overall success of the organization. 👩✈️ I am Evelyn Sapele-Popoola , a passionate result driven Key Account Manager, seeking to work remotely with forward-thinking organisation to build strong client relationships and drive revenue. 🌸 Want to learn more about the exciting world of Key Account Management? Sales has always been one of those roles where it’s all about the outcome. Unlike a lot of other jobs, in sales, you’re directly measured by results—hitting targets, closing deals, bringing in new clients. Your pay is often tied to how well you perform, so there’s a clear link between what you put in and what you get out. In other corporate roles, it’s usually a bit different. It’s more about completing tasks or hitting certain milestones. A marketing team might focus on building brand awareness, which you only see over time. An operations manager might work on making processes more efficient, which isn’t always as easy to measure day-to-day. These roles are absolutely critical, and they have their own set of performance expectations. But the direct link to outcomes just isn’t as obvious as it is in sales. But here’s what’s interesting: the future of work seems to be shifting toward that sales-like focus on results, even in roles that traditionally weren’t. More jobs are starting to reward people based on the goals they hit, not just the skills they bring. Why? Because skills are becoming easier to acquire. With so many online courses and resources, more people are leveling up their skills than ever before. As the supply of skilled professionals goes up, it’s not just about having a skill anymore—it’s about delivering results with that skill. So just like in sales, where you’re rewarded for closing the deal, more roles will start to value the impact you make, not just the talents you bring to the table. It’s going to be less about "Did you know how?" and more about "What did you achieve?" What do you think? Are you seeing this shift too? #SalesLife #FutureOfWork #OutcomeDriven #CorporateTrends Cartoon by Leo Cullum

The move from New Biz to Account Management - Can you trade on your old skillset? Sales professionals often ponder whether their skillset is transferable from New Biz to Account Management. The truth is, the roles require a strategic blend of interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills that are applicable across the board. Effective communication is a transferable skill that is essential in both roles. The ability to articulate value propositions, build rapport, and actively listen, honed in New Biz, should prove essential in cultivating and maintaining strong client relationships within the Account Management role. In addition, the understanding of client needs and market dynamics acquired in New Biz is a valuable asset. This insight enables Account Managers to identify upselling opportunities, anticipate client requirements, and tailor solutions accordingly, whilst building a long-lasting and mutually beneficial relationship. Strong organisational skills are pivotal for seamless transitions. Sales professionals often develop effective time management, prioritisation, and multitasking abilities. In Account Management, these skills aid in juggling multiple client accounts, ensuring each receives personalized attention and solutions. The ability to leverage insights gained in New Biz, combined with effective communication, organisational prowess, and adaptability, positions sales professionals for success in the nuanced and relationship-focused realm of Account Management. #relationship #strategic #partner #customerrelations
