it has been an absolute pleasure to work on this for the last few years, with a fantastic group of colleagues (now friends). you can now read our assessment on Transformative Change. we outline: 🌍 3 underlying causes of biodiversity loss, climate change, and linked crises ✅ 1 definition of Transformative change to address these underlying causes 🧱 5 core challenges to creating Transformative change 🤗 5 strategies for creating change 🏞 a whole heap of evidence and examples of how we can combine approaches to achieve visions of just and sustainable futures.

🌎Two new reports by IPBES are extremely useful tools for decisionmakers and for professionnals making the case for protecting #biodiversity. Science provides, once again, a compelling case to act now, as biodiversity is declining at every level from global to local, and across every region. These ongoing declines in nature, largely as a result of human activity, including climate change, have direct and dire impacts on our collective well-being and our economy. 🍃 The NEXUS report shows us how evironmental, social and economic crises – such as biodiversity loss, water and food insecurity, health risks and climate change – are all interconnected and systemic solutions such as agroecology or one health approaches are essential https://lnkd.in/emApUpt6 🍃 The Transformative Change Assessment tells us about the cost of delaying action to halt and reverse biodiversity decline. But it also talks about opportunity : " Acting immediately can also unlock massive business and innovation opportunities through sustainable economic approaches, such as nature-positive economy, ecological economy and Mother-Earth centric economy. Recent estimates are that more than $10 trillion in business opportunity value could be generated and 395 million jobs could be supported globally by 2030."

🌳 Global proportion of forests certified as sustainably managed: <15% 🌲 There is a need for agro-ecological research. Substantial conservative and restorative measures are needed more than ever.
