In a world which seems to be increasingly intolerant I am immensely proud of the diversity of our team at Connected Energy. In the last 18 months we have grown our team from 20 to 40, increased our proportion of women from 10% to 25% and now have 11 nationalities within the business. Organisations can play such a important role in propagating tolerance, inclusion, collaboration, respect and friendship that it should always be on the agenda. Most importantly if the right culture exists, the rest just follows on, which is what is happening in our team - something to be proud of. What follows from a diverse motivated capable team is commitment, creativity, empathy, enjoyment, satisfaction and success. You know it makes sense.

We are still reflecting on the amazing takeaways from The Women in Energy forum. Hosted by ZEN Energy and ElectraNet Pty Ltd, the event was filled with engaging discussions and valuable connections, leaving us with a wealth of insights—too important to keep to ourselves. We are excited to share some key reflections that can inspire further dialogue and innovation: - Phillipa Ou Chen, ZEN's CFO, shared "how exciting it is to see business being done differently at ZEN". She added, "It is not an easy task to be at the front line of helping customers to face price vulnerability in the best way, but we are a disruptive company in the industry." - ElectraNet's Chair Julie Beeby made a great point about "adding diversity to the leadership of companies, going beyond women's leadership." - Nicola McFarlane, COO at the Office of Hydrogen Power South Australia, dove deep into Hydrogen's key role in the state. "SA is at the forefront of using hydrogen in decarbonisation, providing firming service and reliability." - South Australian Chamber of Mines & Energy (SACOME)'s CEO Rebecca Knol mentioned how the state's blackout in 2016 was a wake-up call and "how incredibly lucky we are in Australia with abundant resources for a successful transition". On International Women’s Day, UNECE celebrates the role of women in the energy sector and continues promoting their engagement in the energy transition. The below teport from IRENA, that confirms previous analysis done by UNECE, highlights that more needs to be done and that, crucially, renewable energy technologies are helping in closing the gap.

This is an incredible group of both women and men from a variety of backgrounds in renewable energy.
