Can we say INNOVATION?! 💪 Let’s talk about their “Cloth for Work” program – seriously, genius alert! Villagers get to, like, build infrastructure and dig ponds (basically becoming community superheroes themselves) and in return, they score essential items like clothes. This keeps their dignity intact and lets them invest in their own communities. #EmpowermentVibes 👏 But Goonj doesn’t stop there. They’re tackling period poverty in rural areas too! We’re talking improved living conditions for amazing women who are often ostracized and living in rough situations. Plus, they’re raising awareness and advocating for change. I often tell changemakers that it is likely that the 'more beautiful future' they are trying to create is already alive somewhere (in their organisation). And that rather than starting from nothing, to try looking for inklings of it, a hint or intimation. Which requires a different skill set from being a pure disrupter or innovator. It requires skills like curiosity, optimism and the mindset of #emergence. It's about midwifing, and creating the conditions for the new to thrive.
