#RewildingWin: Big milestone for seagrass recovery in Plymouth 🌱 After five years of tireless effort, the Life Recreation ReMEDIES project, England's largest seagrass restoration project has restored eight hectares of seagrass meadows including in the Solent Maritime and Plymouth Sound Special Areas of Conservation. This partnership project, involving the Ocean Conservation Trust (a #RewildingNetwork member), has enabled local seagrass meadows in unfavourable conditions to move towards recovery – a transformative step toward reversing decades of decline. Seagrass meadows, which absorb carbon faster than forests, are crucial for fighting climate change and supporting marine biodiversity. While this marks the end of this particular project, it’s just the beginning of long-term monitoring and continued efforts to restore and safeguard these vital underwater habitats. A massive congratulations to all involved in this pioneering #marinerewilding endeavour. 🔗 Learn more about this collaborative marine restoration project [link in comments].
