What makes our editors label a news publication as pro-government? ✅ Displaying moderate pro-government bias. ✅ Often found in limited media freedom environments. ✅ Under direct government influence. ✅Subject to interference in editorial policy and self-censorship. Examples of Pro-Government News Publications: 📰 Al Jazeera 📰 Hurriyet Daily News 📰 WION 📰 The Straits Times 📰 Channel News Asia ✍️Our Methodology✍️ To assess a publication's political bias, we analyze its ownership, affiliation, content, story selection, coverage of sensitive issues, editorial policy, and the political affiliations of its writers. We also consider the level of press freedom in the country and consult third-party sources. #mediabias #medialiteracy #journalisticintegrity #misinformation #propaganda

While all eyes are on the most dramatic defamation celebrity case the nation has seen (thanks to Justice Lee and a comprehensive, contemporary 21st century judgement - finely filtered through a gender sensitive lens) we need to now turn our eye to what is NOT being reported. Good, well reported court coverage is critically important beyond capital cities. Small towns, regional and remote communities need to know what's happening in their courts and how judgements are shaping, or reflecting, community standards and culture - or not. But, they are not getting their fair share of public interest journalism! Today's release of the Australian News Sampling Project: 2023 Report by PIJI (Public Interest Journalism Initiative) is critically important and timely reading for everyone - hello MP's, Councillors, State/Territory legislators - who cares about democratic participation. Because we all know - information is key! #journalism #democracy #publicinterestjournalism Public Interest Journalism Initiative The Walkley Foundation for Journalism Judith Neilson Foundation Susan McKinnon Foundation Women In Media Australia MEAA Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) The Australian Financial Review Women Lawyers Association ACT Australian Rural Leadership Foundation Canberra Lawyers Michelle Rowland MP Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts

The #UgandaMediaWeek conference provides a space for journalists, media professionals, and all stakeholders to come together and discuss the future of journalism. We know that by doing so, we build a stronger, more accountable media environment, where every voice matters. As we approach #UgandaMediaWeek2024, we are reminded of the vital role safe and secure platforms play in promoting freedom of expression. The words of Maxence Melo (Maxence Melo Mubyazi) from Jamii Forums (JamiiForums) resonate deeply: "We build safe, secure platforms that help citizens exercise their right to freedom of expression and hold meaningful, honest conversations." #MediaMattersUG #UgandaMediaWeek

Journalism is evolving. Are you keeping up? Mehdi Hasan's recent moves are shaking up the media landscape: • Left MSNBC to co-found Zeteo, a subscription-based news platform • Returned to Al Jazeera to host "Head to Head" • Joined The Guardian as a columnist Why this matters: 1. Quality over quantity 2. Independence in reporting 3. Diverse platforms for diverse voices Hasan's approach: Hard-hitting interviews + unsparing analysis. His goal? "To seek out, to inquire, to get to the truth." How are you adapting to the changing media environment? #JournalismEvolution #MediaInnovation
