We can all learn this #CyberSecurityAwarenessMonth from Urvashi’s notion to always use two-factor authentication. 🔒 She reminds us of the importance of using two-factor authentication (2FA) to enhance our online security. By adding an extra layer of protection – you can safeguard your accounts from unauthorised access, even if someone manages to get hold of your password. Don’t take your security for granted – enable 2FA on your accounts today. It’s as simple as that. #CyberSecurity #TwoFactorAuthentication #StaySafeOnline

The Zero Trust Maturity Model operates on one key principle: Never trust, always verify. Unlike traditional models, Zero Trust assumes every user, device, and connection is untrustworthy—even if it’s inside the network. Organizations that fail to apply this model correctly leave themselves vulnerable, often relying too much on factors like IP addresses that can be spoofed or inaccurate. Instead, effective Zero Trust focuses on actions, context, and behaviors—not just claimed identities. This helps prevent unauthorized access and data breaches. Ready to implement Zero Trust in your organization? Read how to get started here: https://buff.ly/3U2ijqc #zerotrust #informationsecurity #dataprotection

Encryption is how files are protected - this generally involves "scrambling" data while not in use so that it doesn't make sense to any program or person attempting to access it maliciously, and unscrambling it with an encryption key when the user's identity has been verified, such as with a password. You wouldn't leave your house open, or your car unlocked, so why leave your files unencrypted? At Pearce IT, we offer business-grade encryption on your devices and backups so that they can't be accessed by anyone else: just you and your business, letting you rest easy knowing your data is safe.

Passwords are the bane of so many people’s lives. We all have so many of them to juggle. It would help if you thought about using biometrics instead. That’s using your fingerprint as a password, or even your face, just like you might do to unlock your phone. It’s a simple yet secure way to keep your data safe… yet only around a fifth of people bother with it. I understand some people are wary. Why? They’re worried about their sensitive info falling into the wrong hands. But here's the thing: Biometrics are hard to crack - unlike weak passwords or passwords you reuse across multiple sites. There are also passkeys as an alternative to passwords. These use your phone or another device as a key to prove you are who you say you are. They're very well designed to be safe, as your phone must be close to the device you’re logging in to. Better yet, biometrics and passkeys make a power duo. Use them together like having a double lock on your front door. Are you still using passwords in your business, or have you embraced these super-secure alternatives?
