“We’ve done genetic testing already.” I hear this a lot from families. When I ask what kind, families often don’t know. It’s ok, just ask. Get a copy of your results from the doctor who ordered it. Ask if it was Whole Exome Sequencing or another kind of genetic test. Check the date to see if it was within the last two years. If it wasn’t Whole Exome or Whole Genome Sequencing OR if it wasn’t within the last two years, talk to your doctor about doing genetic testing. The knowledge around genetics continues to grow at an exciting pace. Know the gene(s) causing symptoms. “If you don’t know your gene, you can’t start research.” (that’s my quote btw) #RareDisease #WES #Exome #WGS #GeneticTesting GeneDx
