Happy Easter Monday! 🐣 🐣
I woke up this morning with a chocolate egg “hangover” and decided it’s time to get back on my yoga mat and resume my lapsed daily practice as I know how much better I feel when I practice regularly. Spring is my favourite time of the year and it’s a great time to get active and harness the positive energy.
It’s so easy to let a busy life take over and become an excuse for not having enough time. The truth is that we all have just as much time each day, 24 hours or 1440 minutes and we have a choice of how we use it.
I love practicing yoga the first thing in the morning before starting my day or early evening when I am tired after work, but we are all different so you have to find out what works for you. It takes between 30-60 days to create a new habit or to get rid of an old one, hence all 30-day challenges to get you going and motivated. Here’s some helpful pointers to get more active this April:
⭐️ Pick an activity that you enjoy so you don’t set yourself up to fail before you have even started.
⭐️ Decide which time of the day works best for you and stick to it, before you know it your body becomes used to it and looks forward to it.
⭐️Start small and increase over time. Building a routine and a habit is like building muscles 💪 it takes time and effort, but once you start noticing how good it makes you feel, it is a further motivater.
⭐️ Make it as easy for you as possible i.e. put out your running kit the night before or pack your gym bag or lay out your yoga mat in advance.
⭐️ Tell colleagues, friends and family about what you intend to do. Once it’s out there, it’s easier to stick to and you are holding yourself accountable.
⭐️ Find an exercise buddy or join a group or a class. It’s always easier to stick to something if you have company or feel you might be letting someone down if you don’t go.
⭐️ Be kind to yourself if you slip up. It’s not the end of the world if you miss a session.
⭐️Last but not least, have fun!
